Hello. My name ia Janel. I live in Albany, NY and I go to Dr Singh on Sept. 1st for the Education. I am really excited but scared. I don't know what to expect. I am just starting out. I weight 267 and I'm 5'7". My BMI is I guess about 41 or something.
Ok so I was wondering if there is anyone from my area?
I was wondering if I could make some friends. Um.. I learned very quickly that skinny people are very negative when it comes to Bypass. So I really don't have anyone to talk to. My friends and family are not in favor as well. I really am alone and would like you know a ear to listen shoulder to cry on or just someone to talk to. I've read alot of pages and the more I read the more I feel like I am not alone. I feel like you are writing about me. Please feel free to add me as a friend and I would love to talk to people and learn.

Thank you,
Janel

 Hi Janel!

I'm live no where near Albany, I'm in South Dakota but welcome to the board!  You'll have lots of support here and in no time many friends.  We are all in the same boat, so we all understand where each other is at and the ups and downs of WLS and of life in general.

I always say the reason most people are negative about anything is lack of education.  Skinny people can think that we are just lazy and could very easily lose weight if we just "tried"  .....Well, I and all the rest of us can tell you that we've tried and tried and tried again with no luck.  There's just no way I would have been able to lose the weight I have and keep it off, without the help surgery gave me.  I do the work but the surgery is my helpful tool.

Sorry for my rambling, but welcome again to the board and feel free to ask any questions you have!

~Emily~

Thank you Emily. 09/29/08 I started a lifestyle change. I changed everything. Food, Exercise, mood and attitude about my weight. I lost 40 pounds over 4 months and the last 5-6 months I've gained back 20 pounds. They will never understand the disappointment in that.

Thank you,
Janel

Hello Jamiel.
Thank you for your response. We do have alot in common. I am looking to get the RNY and I go to my first education class on Sept. 1. I'm excited to have new friends. I don't really have a support from friends and family. They will never understand. I have alot of reason for wanting and needing the Surgery.
1. HBP.
2. Asthma

Family Medical history.
My family medical history scares the S#!T out of me. I am currently watching my mom suffer from complications of Diabetes and PAD. My uncles also have it. One is even doing Dialysis.

Both my parent are obese and have heart problems. No one in my family exercises. When I went on my Lifestyle change my support came from outside for they were not on board.

Sorry about rambling. I look forward t talkin to you and getting to know you.

Thank you,
Janel
