well i think california roll is a healthy option. i didn´t enjoy sushi at all 'till 7 months out.
I guess is ok u have some but not like every day just be careful to not "get too confortable with on kinda food" rember that we need difernt kindda food to get all the nutrients we need.
hugs and i think is great u enjoyed sushi.

I had sushi 3 months out and was fine.  I do have trouble tolerating larger amounts of rice, so I try to stick to just a few pieces and then pick out things from the rice.  A good sushi chef should be able to create some rolls without rice if you ask.  Unfortunately sushi widley offered around my area (meat and potato country) but I do love it when I can get it.

You couldn't get me to touch sushi with a ten foot pole before surgery but I tried it at about 6 months post-op and now I'm hooked! I don't have any issues with the rice, I just can't eat a lot. Maybe 4 individual pieces of a certain type of roll. In fact, I'm going out on a date with a guy who I went to high school with and just reconnected with him last Friday night and when he asked me where I wanted to go for dinner and I said Sushi! I love love love it!!!

i LOVE sushi ...mmm now i want some for dinner!
haha anyway, i had it at 4 months post op and i have done fine no matter which roll ive tried..yum!
i do however try to scrape off as much rice as i can (hard to do cause its sticky) and that seems to calm my brain from overthinking about the carbs!

If you actually like the raw fish aspect of sushi, just order sashami.  It's just the fish sans rice.

My favorite is white tuna, it's so soft and creamy and delicious - like butter

I had 2 pieces of sushi at 2 months out. I was afraid to eat any more than that since it was the first time eating sushi since surgery. It was wonderful! I had one California roll and one Philly roll. And like someone else had said, I have been craving it ever since. So I'm going out on Wednesday with the ladies for some more. I figure it could be a once a month treat for me!
