Headaches

Hello all,

Quick question for all of you RNYers....lately (the past week or so) I've been getting some pretty intense headaches. I don't know what brings them on...could be the heat (it's finally summer in NH) but I'm not sure that's the main reason because I've been getting them at work too and it's freezing in there with the AC.  Last night, for example, I went to a concert (Incubus <3) and I got the worst headache I've had in such a long time. That NEVER happens. Towards the end of their set I even felt dizzy and like I could just fall down. It scared me because I haven't felt that way before and I'm not exactly sure what the problem was. I was drinking water while I was there...but maybe not enough? I had a protein shake and two meals earlier in the day so I got in all the protein I needed...but maybe I should have brought a snack? Anyway, question to all of you...what do you take for headaches? I'm going to see
them again tonight. I think I'm going to drink even more water and try to bring a snack in so I can eat something halfway through...

I would call your doc, intense headaches that come on quickly shouldn't be ignored.  Headaches in general can be caused by a lot of things, dehydration, blood sugar issues, and blood pressure are some of the most common for larger folks.

When in doubt call your doc!!

That sounds  A LOT like dehydration!!! I would call you Dr. and see what he/she thinks.

hey girl,

i say call your dr too and make sure your eating enough! ive had this happen a few times if i dont eat enough in a day or forget to eat-- i get super dizzy or really icky feeling. its so not cool.

i carry snacks around with me all the time now, protein bars, peanuts (im allergic to tree nuts), extra protein powder and even a little packet of unjury soup mix just in case im in a bind for a meal.
i spend long hours at work and travel alot and its all come in handy many many times!

good luck!

Always call the doc to be on the safe side.
If your pee isnt comming out light yellow or clear then you are needing more water. Not sure what your surgeons plan is but my opinion is to eat every 2-3 hours.. it helps to keep your blood sugar regulated which could account for your being dizzy (as well as dehydration). A protein shake and two meals may have gotten in all your protein but did you eat enough calories? Carbs? Fat? (again not sure what your guidelines are).
