So I have to have an IVC filter put in a week before my surgery. For some reason my dad is more worried about this than the actual surgery lol. I've done a lot of research on it, but just wanted to get some first hand accounts of people who had it done. Any side effects, pain, problems, etc.

I had a blood clot that they found last year so I like the idea of an extra safeguard just in case.

Hey! I know what you're going through! I had to have one as well. Honestly, it was no big deal what so ever! I was EXTREMELY nervous. I was more nervous for this then the actual surgery because for the IVC filter you're awake. They give you sedation and pain medicine before so you're comfortable. Most of the time the filter is placed through your neck but mine had to be inserted through my groin due to my nickle allergry. Because of the allergry I needed to get a permanent one placed. (The temporary ones are made out of nickle.) But dont stress over it.. It really isn't as bad as you might think!
