Not even 2 months out and feeling like a failure?
My surgery was June 8th. I’m down 53 pounds as of this morning (38 pounds since surgery, in about 7.5 weeks). I’ve been fighting a nasty ulcer that I was hospitalized for 3 times, and I struggle daily with getting in protein and water.
I started out with 150 pounds to lose, so I’m a little over 1/3 of the way done. I went from a 3X in shirts to 1X and a 20 in pants to a comfy 18/tight 16. All of that is a good thing.
So WHY do I still feel like a failure? I’m still fat, my BMI is 41.4 which is where some people START losing weight. I feel like I’m losing slower than most people do, and it makes me nervous.
Can someone kick me in the butt and make me feel better?

I had 'only' a little under 100lbs to lose when I had surgery (surgeons goal) I lost 107lbs from surgery and it took me 18 months to do so.... you are only two months out and it takes time... surgery is a tool not a miracle. For me the way to classify this surgery as a success is not the weight loss, its maintaining it.. thats where the real work comes in. Just be patient and know that 53lbs is amazing loss so far... focus on the protein, water and making the necessary changes to keep the weight off and that will help you in the long run.
As for still feeling fat... that will take a long time to go away... it takes a lot longer for your brain to catch up to your body... take pictures, take measurments, keep track of your weight so you can compare and see on paper how far youve come... just cant trust that ole mirror!
