Start lifting weights. Building muscle helps fill in the gap.

Definately lift weights.  I also take flaxseed and vitamin E.  I use Palmer's Cocoa Butter body wash and lotion.  My skin is smooth, stretch marks are fading, and NO skin issues.  It's all designed to help keep the skin moisterized and elastic so it will have the "bounce back" effect.  Hope this helps.  Oh yea..........size 16/18 before............10 now.

hey girl it depends of ur skin. there is some girls that needs plastics, some that doesn´t need it.  but i honeslty woulnd´t care about that. is better to have a lil of excess skin and have plastics than being morbidy obese so i think is lose skin IS GREAT!!!!!!.
i`m 18 months out and i`m having a brachioplasty and a tummytuck on december hopefuly lol.
tummytuck is not like 100% necesary but i wanna do it for myself `cuz i`ve work so hard that I deserve it lol. and the arms i def need it!! lol.

you can star excercisin and using some creams that helps with skin elasticity and stuff like that but i honestly didn´t use any lol.

hugs.!

I've been wondering about this too.

Thanks for asking.

My surgeon seems to think I won't need any plastics. But she may just be trying to convince me to get the surgery.

Either way I hope it goes down!

I can't afford thousands for plastics right now.

I started at 246, lift weights regularly and I have excess skin on my arms that will probably need some plastic surgery eventually.  It's not as bad as I thought but it drives me nuts.  I am going to see how it is with another 6 months of weight lifting but I'm pretty sure it will still be the same way.

I don't believe there is much to do to prevent it.  You can try the cocoa butters, which I have used for years but I think it's just inevitable.

I was told once there are severe stretch marks on it, it's basically ruined. I had my surgery in June and I'm at 240 and 18yrs old. I'd say at one point I was pushing 300lbs. On surgery Day I was 255 and I can already see the excess skin on my arms and tummy, but mostly my arms. But as Mariana said, I'll take excess skin over morbid obesity any day. Best of luck!

its genetic sweetie, do what you can with liquids, lotion, and working out... but remember after you start to lose all the weight, you wont care if you have some excess skin.

Ill tell you my story, i used to hate being outside, because i was huge and it was freakin hot, im in alabama mind you.  So i would spend the entire summer in the house...refusing to go anywhere that didnt have air conditioning...

now...i mow my yard every tuesday, and i havent noticed the heat when it gets 98+ degrees outside!  I love summertime!  i wear tank tops and short shorts..and i dont give a damn that i have flabby arms, and my thighs arent toned perfectly...

im just thrilled that i wanna go outside!!  you will do.  i worried the same way you are, but youll see, casue someone once told me the same thing.

good luck, hold on its a great ride!

You cannot prevent excess skin.
Working out, proper nutrition, getting your suppliments and water in will help thou.
I also suggest palmers cocoa butter, but really keeping your skin hydrated (inside and out) will help.
It takes a while for the skin to 'catch up' to the weight loss... After I hit goal weight I still noticed changes in my body for months after... things improving over time and what not... but that is also due to working out/lifting weights.
Being younger your skin will be better but the downside is that we are more critical... most people tell me I am 'lucky' with the way my body turned out but really I could get just as much plastic surgery as somebody older/heavier than myself!
