24 with underactive thyroid?
Hello,
I am 24 yrs old and had my WLS on 2/17/09. SInce then I have only lost 55lbs with 45 of it being in the first three months. I have only lost 10lbs since June 1st and cannot figure out why. I go to the gym (spinning classes) four to five times each week for 1 hour and still no weight is coming off. Does anyone else have this problem? Could it be an underactive thyroid?

how much did you weigh before you lost your weight? lighter people don't always lose alot... 55 pounds is still amazing!

That's usually the first thing a weight loss surgeon checks in the preop blood work because it can point to a potential cause of a weight problem and can easily be fixed (ie he gives you a pill and you don't need surgery anymore). I'm guessing it's just because you don't really have that much to lose left (relatively speaking) and it pretty much slows down at that point for everyone. Depending on your nutritional stuff, that could be a cause too. Too high calories, too few calories, too high carbs, etc. can cause weight loss to stall. Also, it might help to vary your exercise a little more if you can. good luck!
i don´t think u have any thyroid problem that`s the 1º thing a surgeron checks.
everybody is diferent do something diferent to shcok ur body like stop going to the gym for a week or try diferent kindda foods maybe áre eating over and over the same things and ur body is use to it by now.
are you drinking protein shakes? if u are stop those and try to get ur protein from real protein. i had a stall before and stoped the shakes and lost some weight.
other thing u can do is eat only protein for 3 days don´t mix it whit anyting else. u just can have decaff cofe or put some lemon on ur food. u can have chicken, steak, eggs, cotagge cheesee, make sure they are solid. so u won´t be able to have a lot. in 3 days doing this u should lose at leas 3 to 4 lbs. if u change ur routing for 2 weeks and u don´t lose any lb. call ur surgeron, but i think you will
