So as of monday June 29th I am a new person. I am on fluids still for one more week and am still sore but am off of pain meds which is a good thing. I am feeling great getting a lot of comments but still am having trouble to get in all 64oz of fluid it is hard. The day before surgery I had 14 bottles of watter and know i can barely drink 3. I have a question for you I am back and am feeling good. but cold things like snow cones and pop cicles are amazeing. is that normal. Also has anyone ever craved a coke after surgery. Ill keep you up dated

Naw your perfectly normal. I like cold stuff too. Crystal light has helped me drink more. I like the lemonade. For some reason I drink a lot more when it tastes sweet or sour. I craved carbination too. I have had a couple sips of others soda and I was okay. We are not suposed to but I know a lot of poeple who have had diet coke. I just burped a lot. It sounds like your feeling well. I am 3 weeks out and drinking gets easier.

 Congratulations!!!

Drinking is hard right away but just do your best.  It will get easier as you progress.  I wouldn't suggest any carbonation at this point since you are so fresh out of surgery.  I don't drink it at all because I'm a former caffeine/soda addict  but for those who can handle it, some every now and again probably wouldn't be horrible.

I hope you have a speedy recovery!

14 bottles of water the day before surgery? I didn't know that was humanly possible
I still am absolutely terrible about getting all my water in -- I usually get about 4 or 5 cups on a good day. It sounds like you're pretty well set :)

HEY!! I HAD MY SURGERY THE DAY AFTER YOURS AND GOT HOME JULY 4TH. WHAT A DAY HUH. ANYWAYS I LOVE LOVE LOVE POPSICLES AND COLD THINGS.  MY HUSBAND WENT AND BOUGHT ME SOME OF THOSE POPSICLE MAKERS THINGS THAT KIDS USE AND I POURED CRYSTAL LIGHT INTO IT AND I LOVE THOSE THINGS. IT REALLY HELPS TO GET IN SOME KIND OF FLUID. IT'S HARD FOR ME NOT TO GULP COLD WATER BECAUSE ITS SO YUMMY I FIND MYSELF DOING IT FROM TIME TO TIME BUT TRY NOT TO. 64OZ, I WOULDN'T STRESS YOURSELF TO VERY MUCH BECAUSE RIGHT NOW I AM GOOD TO GET IN 26 LOL. MY NURSE BROUGHT A COKE WITH HER TO MY ROOM ONE DAY AND I WANTED TO SMACK HER, I WOULDN'T DRINK IT BECAUSE IT BUBBLES AND MIGHT MAKE YOU FULL? I AM STILL NEW TO THIS SO IDK BUT JUST A THOUGH. AND ONCE YOU START SIPPING YOU MIGHT NOT WANNA STOP....I WOULD LOVE TO TASTE IT! LOL BUT NOOOOOOT YET. ANYWAYS HOPE THIS HELPS AND HOPE YOU ARE DOING WELL!

Yeah, the water is giving me a hard time too. It seems to be easier the last day or two than it was the first couple days out from the hospital. But I've already learned how important it is, Dr. B made me come back in last week and I had to get 7 bags of IV fluid because of dehydration and I was only 2 days post op! It was CRAZY! So I'm just trying to get the 64 in as hard as I can and eating as many popsicles as possible (since they count for 2oz of fluid each). What I've had to do is set an alarm to go off every 5 minutes on my phone, and when it goes off I drink, even if I can only get a small sip in.

step away from the soda! I had lots of cravings at first but they are starting to fade a little now that I have a new body. Its just not as tempting when you start looking amazing and want to stay that way. Keep it up with the water and just do what you can. I think 64oz is a little absurd for someone whos stomach is the size of an egg. Just do the 5 minutes thing. That is what I did and I never got dehydrated. Keep pushing yourself just a little more every day to do the basics, first its getting in liquids then its getting in proteins and vitamins always. but remember to listen to your body at all times and if you feel like you cant take another sip then give it a rest. Just dont lisent to the part that tells you to eat things not approved by your surgeon. that voice is a liar! It will only make you sick!
congrats on the new you! let us know how its going!
