I'm kind of freaking out...

So I posted a blog on this but I figure the more responses I can get on this the better...I had my surgery about 2 weeks ago (Mon. 6/15) and gained 11lbs in the hospital. I dropped that plus an additional 10. So 3 days ago I weighed myself and it said I gained 3lbs in one day! I have no idea how that's even physically possible since I'm sticking to my diet which is WAY smaller than it used to be! I weighed today and it said I was a pound above my lowest weight since surgery and it basically hasn't moved in the past 3 days. How have I hit a plateau already? I know it's only 3 days but after losing a pound a day to GAINING a pound and then not losing it for 3days! What gives?! Has anyone else had this problem? I know I shouldn't weigh everyday but this spike has gotten me concerned. Any advice?

u may be getting ready to start your period, i ALWAY put on 3-5 lbs right before my cycle, good news is that as soon as it was over i'd lose that PLUS an additional 3-4.
you're not at a plateau....my surgeon defines a plateau as not losing a single pound for 3 or more WEEKS.
Plus, you're only 2 weeks out and your body is still in "WTF" mode...everything and i do mean EVERYTHING is going to be out of wack for a while, you're body is still trying to understand what the heck just happened to it, ya know?!

Rest assured what you are going through is very normal and you'll be losing regularly in no time!!

my first month out I didnt lose anything at all.  the dr. said it was normal from swelling/ water retention and your body just freaking out in general. Dont worry and dont obsess on the scale. it will all come off in due time =]

girl take a deep breath i know this is really hard, but each body reacts diferent u are gonna drop a lot of weight  when u least expect it. i myself had problems at 1th losing it 2, the 1th 2 month i lost about 17 lbs. and most people drop like 30 or so i was soo mad. but the next month i start droping the weight. so don´t worry keep on the basics and the surgery will work you `ll see.

good luck! and hang in there we all have been there.

hey I just noticed your post. I would agree with everyone who said not to worry and actually, I would say STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE. you had a sleeve done, right? well, your body is gonna retain more fluid- it just does. I had drains for weeks, and maybe you don't but the scale is not gonna be anywhere near reflective of what's really going on... and until your body gets used to things, you will fluctuate. pay attention to your diet, weight yourself but take it with a grain of salt, especially early. I weigh more later in the day than early, and if I'm good with my water drinking I can sometimes weigh a pound or two more. but trust your surgery, it will work.

I also take measurements once a week. it helped me to not be discouraged if I had a bad scale day... or even a few bad scale days.

good luck

Thanks so so much. I did have the VSG but I didn't have any drains, the measuring thing is a GREAT idea, it never even crossed my mind. Thanks for the kind words :)
