kinda freeaking out. this is gross but i need help!
hi guys,
I'm now 8 days out of surgery, no complaints really (pain wasnt as bad as i had expected, and besides craving real food i was dealing well****il today..
My doctor had me on a clear liquid diet 1-2 days out of the hospital.. so Friday I tried some yogurt with skim plus, did fine... tried a low fat cream of chicken soup with skim plus, no discomfort, felt great.
today i woke up in the morning, had 2 oz of Farina wheat, which I also had no problems with, at least for the past 4 mornings. After taking my afternoon nap, i woke up with the absolute worst abdominal pains in my life (i've suffered many "****attacks" with terrible cramping pre-op, and this one has taken the cake), followed by diarrhea.
I was sweating profusely, dizzy, nauseous, and peeing from my butt - all indicting i was going through my first dumping.
i am upset because ive been doing so well. WHY else would i be dumping?? everything was so smooth and consistent for the last 5 days and today it just hit me!
Lasted t for a good hour, i thought i was fine, until before ...my upper vagina/under the belly button region is in extreme pain. extreme, and i am still having small bouts of diarrhea (trust me, it isn't mentrual cramps.. this is almost inexplainable) that isn't even like real poop.
i called my doctor, too, and they said "im sure its just a case of dumping, stick to clear liquids today"
am i freaking out too much?? Why is this lasting all day? has anyone else experienced this, a week post-op??
WAH! oh! but i did lose 20 lbs! feels nice! haha

the fact that its lasting all day makes me think that it is a lactose issue...i couldnt tolerate ANY milk for the first month of surgery...but i gave it another try recently and i did ok....made me a bit gassy but thankfully NO ****s lol
hope you feel better soon!! i would just stay away from dairy other than block cheese for a while.
also milk has sugar in it, so if you happen to have a lactose issue right now AND you cant handle sugar...you would definitely be suffering to the extent that you have been.

First off, your term '****attacks' nearly made me fall off my chair at work. LOL Not laughing at you, just laughing with you, they've happened to us all and post-WLS they are basically inevitable once in a while. Definitely sounds like dumping and you'll learn that some things will be fine one day and weird the next, eventually you figure out what the safe bets are but it's a definite learning process. 20 pounds - that's amazing! You're doing really well!!
