I love the Wii. I just purchased the Wii Fit a few weeks ago and I think it is really fun. I like video games and competing for the top scores with family members. I was really shocked that my 5 year old nephew was even able to use it. I don't know if it really gets your heart rate going the way exercise should because it takes some time to switch activities and most of the activities I have done so far have been 1-3 minutes. But it is definitely a fun addition to an active lifestyle. The balance games are my favorite :) it's also not the only Wii game that encourages being active. Most of the games involve physical activity to some degree and when you really get into the games and stand up using the correct form you do better. I find all the games I have to be the highlight of get-togethers at my home.

I don't have a Wii (yet) but some of my friends have said that the new one called "Active" is actually a better workout than the Wii Fit.  I haven't tried either, but you might want to look into both. My friends have said that they feel like they use their whole body more with Active.  If you get either one, let me know how you like it because I'm planning on buying a Wii pretty soon.

Thanks ladies!!!
I will definitely look into Active, I hadn't even heard of it before, maybe the wii channel has a demo video to watch! I didny buy my wii lol I stole it from my fiance teehee . He doesn't miss it cause he is addicted to his xbox 360. He actually won the wii at a car show the day after I started shopping around for one, so I took it as a sign that I was supposed to have it hahaha!

Ok so I just checked out the demo for EA's Active game (for the wii) on the wii's Nintendo Channel and it looks like a waaay better workout than wii fit. Looks like wii fit is more of a family friendly way of getting the blood pumping BUT Active looks like it would really give u a great workout and its totally customized for the individuals workout needs, gonna have to look into it further for sure. Of course I want it to be fun but I also want it to be a time worthy workout! Thanks for the advice!! I will let u know how it goes

The wii fit itself isn't that great of a workout, but I have my fitness coach that doesn't require the wii fit just the wii and the wii active and just in the last month alone I have lost 30 pounds.  They kick your ass.   Its a great work out and it lets you do it when you want to do it instead of making a fool of yourself at the gym like I used to do.

Good Luck!

And Costco is ALWAYS the best place to purchase anything haha.
