Evaluation my A$$
I had my psych eval this morning and was just expecting the doctor to ask me about weight loss surgery, my dieting habits, compliance...you know stuff that is directly related to having the surgery...WELL...Som ehow we got into the subject of my divorce and how my kids are coping with that... and I ended up crying... He asked me why it makes me sad and how does that make me feel...you know... those stereotipical psychiatrist questions and it turned into a therapy session instead of an evaluation. OMG...Anyway the first step has been taken and am well on my way to the losers bench.

Sorry that your eval upset you so much! Some doctors are probably more familiar with WLS evals than others.
Even though it may not seem like it, I'm sure there is a reason for him/her asking those questions. Emotional stress by you or someone in your family can affect your WLS. For example, I'm a stress eater so if I were in stressful situation, I would end up eating. Even though WLS restricts how much we can eat, we can still choose the wrong things and end up cheating ourselves. Also, maybe they were trying to get an idea of your support system at home. Sometimes the whole therapy things seems backwards and roundabout but usually does make some valid points when you can finally figure out what the dr. is trying to get at!
Congrats on getting the eval done!

I know exactly how you feel!! I had my psych eval not that very long ago and the psychologist's 1st question was "Tell me about your family". I'm thinking.. OMG we're going to be here all DAY! We went into my parent's divorce, issues with my mother, abusive relationships, etc. I walked out of there needing a margarita and a LONG nap! I was completely worn out! I guess they just want to know what are triggers for eating may be. You are not alone! Thank goodness its over though right!! Moving right along....
