DS'rs with a high BMI?
I know it is based on lots of factors and all, but age IS one of them. Just wanting to know if there are any twentysomethings on here, who started out w/ a BMI between 50-60, that can tell me about...........skin lol :) How much do ya have? Can you hide it to almost nonexistence w/ clothes and shapers? Do you look....um.....interesting without clothes? The cold hard truth is what I'm looking for peeps :p

I had an RNY, so I don't know how it will be different with a DS, but I've lost around 60% of my excess weight and I'm not noticing much loose skin. I started with a BMI of 52 at 405 lbs and I've lost around 125 lbs. Most of my weight was concentrated in my midsection, and that is the area where the skin is the loosest, but it really isn't that bad. With clothes on, it isn't apparent at all and without clothes I only notice when I'm looking for it (think fat of less density then normal fat but not really like loose skin, and that is my situation). It's probably different for females because of the way fat deposits being different in males and females, but I would say you have less to worry about then average. I'm guessing with some sort of shapewear you could easily make it pratically nonexistant. of course all of this depends on genetics too.
Hi! i'm more than half way to my ideal weight, and i have quite a lot of loose skin-i have seen worse, but it bugs me. i have batwings, a lot of loose skin around my body, bum and it ends luckily above the knees. i also had two kids, and my stomach and boobs look rather terrible, but you know what, there are so many surgery options and i can't wait!!
i use a body shaper and it works very well. also, a good bra can do miracles!!
i do hate the fact that if i'm not wearing a body shaper, and i'm wearing pants, to me it looks as if i'm melting to the sides when i sit down! it does sound a bit worse than it is though. my BMI was 57 and now down to 37, so i just remind myself of how much better i feel and how far i've come and i dream about the day i can have plastic surgery, imagine, with one or two surgeries you can fix the skin problem, where your wls journey takes a lot longer!
don't worry, clothes and the right underwear can do miracles and make you look a LOT thinner!
