Damn Dialup.
***Disclaimer....While at home I have dial up and OH will NOT load for the life of me. Thank God I am now House Sitting and have high speed, yay!***
So I haven't been on here in Ages. In fact according to my avatar (before I changed it) it was the end of January/beginning of February that I was on here about my audition at Duquesne in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately I didn't pass the written test, so wasn't granted a scholarship to attend from California. With the rejection I ended up falling way low and messed up alot with my schooling. With the help of my therapist at school I was able to refocus and looked for another school- this one being closer and in California. I auditioned last month and was accepted into the Applied Music Program- one of forty students (new and old) admitted into the program. So, I'm feeling way better about my abilities as a performer none the less, just have to get back on track with school, moving and the weight management.
I look forward to meeting all the newbies and reuniting with the oldies :)
xoxo!

The more things the change, the more they're still the same.
Our lungs aren't connected to our pouches, lol. To play anything well, one has to have alot of wind capacity. It takes the same amount of air to play my flute as it does to play the tuba... it is just different in how and where I direct the air. It is pretty fascinating, if you ask me.
The surgery has only improved my playing. Just like a vocalist or athlete, the less energy being taken away from my music the better.

Lol... pouch wind... It'd take a lot of skill to burp your music!
I tried playing clarinet when I was little, buuut I'm slightly asthmatic, and I think it is mostly when exhaling more than inhaling. I wasn't really good at it at all... Sooo I tried switching to violin after a couple years. I sucked at that too, then I realized I just wasn't very good at music. It helps if you actually learn how to read music instead of writing the letters under the notes, lol... I think I still have my clarinet somewhere.
