Plastic Surgery?
Hey there. I'm scheduled to have lapRNY on June 15th. I weigh 280 and am hoping to get to 150. I am almost 24 years old. I was wondering if anyone else has all ready lost the weight or know of someone who has and weather or not the needed plastic surgery due to extra skin. I know that some people in their 40's that have ended up having the tummy tuck after weight loss but I've been told that because I am younger I may not have that problem. Anyone with experience or knowledge in this area would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Lauren

this is a very common concern and unfortunately there is no perfect answer, everyone is different, carried their weight differently and stretched their skins to different capacities. How long you've been over weight will play a factor as well. Honestly, chances are if you have stretch marks the skin is not going to bounce back perfectly and then it will be up to you to decide if you'll need plastic surgery.
I'm 3 months out and have already decided that one day i will have a lift and boob job and a tummy tuck and i was a "light weight" but Ive had stretch marks since i was 12ish....
good luck

Hey Lauren! Are you my twin? I'm 24, had my RNY 5 months ago, and I was 276. Now I'm down to 192. And my goal is 145ish. Weird, right?
As far as plastics go, I was told by my surgeon that due to younger, more elastic skin, I would have FEWER issues with sagging skin that someone twenty years older than me. So far, this is true.
However, After 84lbs of me gone, I notice that things just aren't where they're supposed to be anymore. My boobs are extremely saggy, tummy isn't that much better, and I've got some little baby "batwings".
I seem to be less saggy than I thought I was, though. It takes our skin time (ie. a few months) to kind of catch up. I think my skin is tighter than it was a month ago, and I'm hoping that it keeps tightening up.
Plastics are a personal decision, and unique to each individual. Personally, I plan on having a breast lift/augmenation (depending on what needs done, I'm no expert). That is the only surgery I KNOW I will need at this point. Tummy tuck and brachioplasty (bat-wing-ectomy) are also in the runnings for things to get taken care of. But I'm not certain yet. I'm sure more things would be "certainties" if I had waited to have this surgery in my 40s.
Waiting to see what my body will do is not the easiest thing, but my main focus is to get down to my goal weight, be healthy, and then take it from there.
Good luck to you!!!!

After I had surgery I promised myself that I would never purposely get surgery again. Now Im planning on getting a boob job! Ha ha! I think the boobs are the only thing that I care about. I know I dont want to be too flappy and when Im 40-50 Ill be thinking "why didnt i get this tucked?" but my BOOBS are my main concern. Nobody notices a little bit of bat wing or jiggle thigh or belly tub if your staring at big boobs right? :) I think since when your big you get used to big boobs and you really miss them! I know I do!
Also I was told that your skin flab is going to peak at 5-6 months. OH yea for me! right now Im at 5months! I love to be in a swimsuit with my flab at its worst! Oh well. Id rather be a flabby in a suit then obese!
Whats an lapRNY? I dont know if thats a lap band or a RNY? With the band you might lose a little slower and not have as much flab as a RNY.....????? I dont know Im not an expert on that!
