Am I crazy!?!?! I am over 3 weeks out and eating well and have been eating more and more kinds of foods. But I really want some pizza! If I ate some, it would only be about 1/4 of a slice and I feel guilty for even thinking of it. THoughts?????

It's head hunger and therefore, super difficult to deal with!  I know that right now it's probably the only thing you can think of, but you have to realize eating it might damage your stomach and in addition, your weight loss.  I would suggest an alternative, but at the end of the day there's nothign that can quite match up to the taste of pizza.  Instead, remember that this only lasts for a few months; you have the rest of your life to consume pizza.

Don't feel guilty for craving something.  You have had to alter your entire food system and sense of what food is.  There is no need for you to feel guilty for wanting something you could have easily had a month ago.

I know exactly how you are feeling... I wanted pizza too!  So instead of calling up Dominoes... I looked online for a WLS healthy alternative.  The best two I have found so far were pizza bites from eggface.

http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2008/03/pizza-bites.html

and a REALLY simple way to make mini pizzas

Mini Whole Wheat Pita cut open to make two mini "crusts"... I am 3 months out and can only eat one half of the pita still.

Top with whatever you normally put on your pizza.  I use canadian bacon, LF cheese sprinkle, Barilla Marinara sauce (lower in sugar), mushrooms and sometimes turkey pepperoni or even mini peperonis.  Put it in the oven on 400 for about 10 minutes and it is sooooo yummy and gets me over my craving for pizza!  Hope that helps!

Also check out the other "bites" on eggfaces blog, they are super easy to make and super easy to pop a couple in your purse to eat during the day or even take n roadtrips!  Good Luck!

Once you are cleared for regular foods, use a low carb tortilla or flatbread and make our own.

Mix a litte ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese) spaghetti sauce and a little cheese and eat... flavor of pizza just without the crust... can mix in some turkey pepperoni and veggies (depending on what you are allowed etc).

plus hun if you really really have to have the taste of pizza, please please just have the toppings, the crust can really damage your pouch this early out. scrape the toppings and pat the grease off with a napkin and chew chew chew!

good luck!

I took a bite and it made me feel like crap. Dont do it. or do it and feel like crap and learn your lesson. its my favorite food! you can eat a bite or two in a year or so (dont tell anyone I said that! bad!) I just realize that I will never eat an entire pizza like I used to. :( but I do think about it all the time. Its especially hard when Im at a social thing and its only pizza. AHHHH my husbands fav food too! he loves the stuff! I say eat it somewhere else! anything else I can handle, but not pizza!

i second the motion of eating some ricotta cheese mixed with marinara .. you could even melt some mozz. cheese on top by baking it in the oven. it will cure that craving and its healthy and delicious =]
