I had to see a nutritionist for 6 months, and believe me there were times when I gained and was really nervous about it. However, my nutritionist was very supportive and understood how hard it is to lose weight and keep it off. I'm sure your nutritionist has seen it all before, and won't be mad at you! Good luck!
I'm having the same problem. The first month of the diet I did great and lost 7lbs. Now my weight keeps going up and down and I'm terrified that the doctor will yell at me or accuse me of being non-compliant with the diet and then I won't get approved for the surgery. I started writing down what I eat and weighing myself everyday and recording it so that I can show him and have some proof. All I keep thinking though is that diets don't work for me... that's why I'm going to have the surgery in the first place!! Atkins always worked great for me but then after I'd go off the diet, I'd gain all the weight back! I'm thinking I might try to do a modified Atkins (like a lot of people posted- lots of protein, low carbs) for the remainer of the supervised diet. It'll be a good jumpstart on the weight loss before surgery!
