About a month ago, I started changing my diet- I cut out fats and sweets and lowered my calories a bit, concentrated mostly on fresh fruit and crunchy veggies plus lean protein. I also started adding in some protein shakes, so I could try some out and get used to them for post-op. Now I’m on a liquid diet for this week (my surgery is next Monday) and it’s strained soups, protein shakes, SF pudding and popsicles, broth, etc.
I can’t help you on the birth control, sorry. I’ve never been on it.
You can start now trying out different samples of protein shakes, increase your walking and some exercise, drink more water, etc.

My doctor did not require a pre-surgery diet. She did however ask me to lose 5lbs, and I did the opposite by gaining 7. Do not use me as an example :)
Birth Control. I was told anything that did not have to be orally ingested. I chose Mirena the IUD, which may not be for everyone. Other options (this is by no means comprehensive) are Depo Provera (shot), Ortho Evra (Trans-dernal patch), and Nuva Ring (Vaginal Ring).
Ask your doctor about foods. Each surgeon and each bariatric program can differ vastly. I was on liquids for 6 weeks after surgery, but your doctor may have outlined a different plan for you.
I remember feeling the same way you do before having my surgery. I called Barix and in two weeks had a consult. Did a sleep study the next month and less than a month after I was being operated on. I blame my quick decision making on being young and impulsive, but this is one of the greatest choices I have ever made for my health, both emotional and physical.
You'll be fine

Hey Bobbey I will try to help:
1.My surgery happened really quickly (within a week) after I decided to have it. So I did not have time for a diet-but for that week prior they told me to try and shrink the size of my liver...that organ is in front of the stomach and if it is smaller it's easier to operate. You should ask you doctor who your nutrionist is going to be-and they can tell you exactly what to eat. But if i remember correctly the Pre-surgery diet was mostly grilled chicken, lean proteins and adding lemon to my water 3 times a day.NO fried food, Sugary foods, or Breads/rice/pasta. Also start practicing drinking protein also.
2.Your period is going to be waaaaayyyy outta whack after surgery no matter what because of crazy hormone fluctuation after you lose fat. I got on the NUVARING and I love it. It took 3-5months for me to become "regular" but now its EXACT every month. Check out nuvaring.com and ask your gyno
3. Stock up on Chicken Stock, Sugar free Popsicles, Sugar free jello. I like the MYOPLEX choclate flavored protein (at sams club-the powder not shakes) and Isopure protein. I had a hard time drinking them so I would freeze them and eat it like ice cream
