Living on college campus post-WLS?
Has anyone here lived in a university residence hall AFTER having WLS? What were your experiences with eating and just plain living there?
I've done a lot of thinking about the food part, and that's the only thing that I'm a bit concerned about. I chose the cheapest meal plan (they require you choose one), whi*****ludes a few buffet-style meals per week. I figure I'll use those since I'm paying for them anyway, and then fend for myself the rest of the time. Protein drinks, tuna, lunchmeat, etc.
On the other hand, walking around a large campus will be a good thing! Plus my hall has a fitness center which will be helpful.
I'm having the VSG btw.

I had RNY my last semester of college, but I lived in an University owned apartment, so I didn't have to get a meal plan. However, I'd write to the housing department and have a doctor co-signed note that says that you're on a restrictive diet which the dining facilities do not at the time accomodate, and see if you can get out of the dining contract. The other suggestion I have would be to write the company who provides dining services (@ Pitt it was Sodexho) and explain that you have certain dietary restrictions and see if they will meet your needs in terms of lean protein and fresh produce. I know that my school did this for people on a Kosher or gluten free diet. I hope this helps
