You are so much stronger than you think! Do anything you can to keep from picking one up again. They're soooo bad for you. Overall you reallly don't want one. They're soo expensive, and with every one you smoke you get more and more addicted. Keep up the good work, and don't pick up that cig. Smash any you may still have around and throw them out.
If you feel like you still need them there, my mom used to keep some in her freezer when she was quitting just so she knew they were there. They were like a security blanket, they were there.... but she couldn't just smoke them immediately if she wanted.

Hard candy (sugar free of course!) and rubber bands!!!! I'm telling you, they are a god send when trying to quit smoking!
The candy gives your mouth something to do, and the rubber band goes on your wrist. Every time you want a smoke, yank back on that sucker and snap yourself as hard as you can. I know, I know...it sounds extreme, but in 72hrs your brain will begin to associate wanting a cigarette with pain and then it's all "Screw this! I don't want one!"
I quit twice this way...the first time it worked flawlessly, and then I started nursing school and went back (after almost 2yrs quit)...The last time was during nursing school and I've been smoke free since June 2006!
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

snapping yourself with the rubberband is almost how RNY works. you eat something bad for you, you feel like crap.
I quit 4 years ago and if I could do it then you can do it. I did latch hook rugs when I wanted to smoke, so you need to find something that you can just pick up and keep your hands busy. Havent done a latch hook rug since i quit smoking but whatever works.... works!
first calculate how much you would spen in cigerettes a week and then at the end of a smoke free week (or day by day is how i started) get yourself something or at least put the cash somewhere you can see it. when you watch the money pile up and you realize what else you could be doing it helps you not go back. when I quit I was smoking about 5$ a day. yikes!
Is it encouraging to say that its never easy? Once you get past the 2 weeks of physical cravings then you just have to deal with the mental part, the hardest part! You can do it and the most important thing is DO NOT GO TO THE STORE AND BUY CIGERETTES. that is how you quit. If they are not there you cant smoke them so resist and dont buy the pack. If your surrounded by smokers that smoke your brand then it is going to be harded to put it down, but as long as you quit buying them you will quit smoking them. sounds easy but it works!
and drink lots of water. lots and lots and lots. lots of ice, straw if you want, but drink tha****er!
