punched in the gut...or something just as pleasant

Over the last week, I've had a dull, persistant pain centered at about my "pouch" area (just below center of ribs)...most noticable after swallowing anything, including liquids.
There's no other symptoms...it doesn't feel like a "foamies" blockage or anything i've had before, and i haven't done or eaten anything out of my "norm"...so what gives?...anyone had something similar?
I'm not in any major pain...just moderately annoyed...I'm looking at a five day weekend and don't want to spend any portion of it sitting around the doctor's office...

Sorry honey no, but it might be an ulcer....you might want to call your surgeon and describe it.

I shoulda googled it before I posted..."ulcer" seems to be the consensus here...symptoms are right.
Jeebus...i just wanted a relaxing weekend...
