I had the realize band so time off will be a little different for us. I took two weeks off but I have a very labor intensive job where I'm walking and on my feet all day during a 12hr shift. I also have some fairly heavy lifting to do since I work in a hospital. When I went back though I was fine and had no issues just a little soreness. Good luck!

Thanx. for ur post. I actually work in a hospital also. Actually I am having the procedure in the hospital I work for. But yes my job does not include hard labor I am a patient coordinator for World Trade  Center victims, so I sit at my desk most of the day.

I would think you would be fine to go back after a week or maybe a little more. wait for some of the post from the other RNY'ers they might have a little better info on how you should feel after surgery.

I would not worry about it at all, I felt just fine after my RNY, but WALK WALK WALK all they will let you in the hosptial, it speeds up recovery. and don't forget to take frequent breaks because if you sit for too long you'll get stiff. That being said, I took a full 3 weeks...but only because I had the time to take and I got paid for it...so why not!?

WALK WALK WALK is the key for sure!!  It really makes you feel better fast!. I had a very speedy recovery and returned to school in a little less than a week.  (I stand alot at school)  A little over a week should be fine for you to return to work.  Good luck with everything!!!

Today is my first day back to work after my RNY, I took a little less than 3 weeks off, but my job is very physical (I work in a high volume animal hospital). I'm not able to do alot of it so I feel like a 5-wheel, but I help where I can and everyone is being very supportive. They just think I'm crazy for being back so quick.
I think with a desk job 1-2weeks should be good.
