Its not that bad.. i like the isopure which gives you 40grams of protein and i just started this new drink from gnc and its called amp and that has 60grams... tastes good. some poweder protein i like.. but with gnc you can take it back or exchange any flavor you dont like!

personally, I think it depends on a few things: Your knowledge of food and it's nutritional properties, your pickiness, your awareness of what you're eating and ability to follow a kind of diet plan, and then what surgery you had.

If you aren't conscious of it, you will probably not get adequate amounts of protein. If you like nutrition shakes, you will probably be okay. If you like low fat dairy, that's a plus. Start now experimenting to find stuff that you like which will pack a protein punch. I am a meat and dairy kind of gal, it has been the majority of what I eat post op. sometimes that can be more caloric than shakes, but I just hate eating anything which "isn't real" if you know what I mean. When I need extra protein I down these awful vials called protein bullets or shots- they taste nasty to me but it's two or three swallows and it has 26-42 grams of protein. And I want to keep my muscle and my hair, so I do it.

good luck

well at the begining is really hard to get anything in. even is hard to get your liquids in. and protein is almost impossible but slowly you will get all your proteins and liquids in. so don´t worry in a couple of months you will be able to get all your proteins just fine. the important think as that you are concious of this so you get as much as possible.
you`ll be fine. just follow the rules.
hugs.

Once you are healed from your surgery getting protein isnt too hard as long as you keep track. Shakes def help! I just eat meat and veggies and i usually get it all in. I like being a meatatarian, except for snacking, which doesnt happen after surgery. Everything that is dry or convienant is usually a carb no no.

It will take time for you to be able to get the protein in... my surgeon said to do the best I could for the first 2 months.... I was on protein suppliments for the first 5 and stopped after that. Remember that you are completely relearning how to eat/feed yourself and working with new plumbing so its frustrating and takes time to get it all figured out.
