IUD after RNY?
Okay so some of you know that i'm a total IUD advocate! I've had mine goin on 4 years and I love it! my question is has anyone else had experience in having an IUD while going through the RNY process and if so did you notice changes in your cycle?
I got my IUD because my Dr. told me that it would greatly help to decrease the severity of my cycle and possibly make it go away all together, which it thankfully did. However, the night before my RNY I started the first period I had had in almost 3 years. I simply attributed it to stress and my body feeling depraived from fasting for 4 days before hand. However, like clock work exactly one month later, I got another visit from Mother Nature. So I'm curious if I'll eventually go back to NOT having periods or if this is something I've got to look forward to every month? Any one with any insight would be appreciated!!

I had my IUD for 2 years before surgery and I had the EXACT same thing happen right after surgery. I chalked it up to the hormone changes and just the surgery experience in general. I'm going on 5 months post op and I've had more "regular" periods since I've lost weight, meaning that I will have light spotting one day a month or more. This is probably TMI, but it's been so light I don't know it's even going on until I wipe. I can live with that.
Aren't IUD's great?
Hope that helps!

I have had my IUD for three years now and had the same thing happen, I didn't have a full blown period but light spotting and it went away in like a day maybe two... might be the weight loss might just be your body recovering from surgery. Also my doc said that after a few years with the IUD you might spot more because it's been in for a while. I dont think that it will be permanent, but everyone is different ya know :)
