VSG- What do you think?
Olivia,
hey- I'm a fan of my sleeve, but I guess I have a few questions for you if you're considering it- things to consider are:
1. How much weight do you want to lose?
2. What does your doctor routinely perform?
3. What is covered by your insurance?
plus some other things. I actually had a band before my sleeve, and my doctor is not a big fan of sleeves... so I have mixed feelings about encouraging it. Mostly, I like it. I'm doing well with it, and i love knowing I won't be having any of those potential band complications down the road. Anyway, I'd love to hear more about you and I'm up for taking a stab at any questions you have.
I'm a little more than 1 month out, down about 15-20 lbs since surgery. People are noticing it a lot faster than when I had my band

As someone told me lately, everyone deserves the chance to fly!
Big fan of my sleeve here!! I've had great results and the long term results that are coming out are great in terms of long term weight loss! I'm 6 months out today! Hooray, and I'm down 108 pounds... 86 of that is just since surgery so I'm very pleased with me results. PM me if you have other questions I can answer for you.
I don't think my insurance will cover a sleeve, so I chose RNY. I really did look into it and consider it though. I might have chosen the sleeve if I could have, but personally, I realize though I may not like it, the dumping syndrome associated with RNY when you eat things that aren't good for you, will help me a lot to control what I eat. If I only have restriction I can see myself messing it all up eventually. Also, the malabsorptive part of RNY makes for more rapid weight loss. Plus it is reversible in emergencies since the blood supply to the bigger section of stomach remains intact. With the VSG I could still have milkshakes, ice cream, candies. carby meals... all kinds of bad things for me... and I might just do that if I could TBH. I want the most help possible making the right decision.
