Looking for some food advice...
So...I had my RNY back on March 20th I'm 1 month, 1 week out and having a HELL of a time.
I can't find anything to eat. *sigh*
About the only thing that feels like it goes down well and I can't stomach and doesn't give me an uncomfortable feeling is applesauce. Other than that...food...the though of it, the smell, look, taste...I cannot get over how nauseous it makes me feel. I'm trying to get protein in and I just don't know what to eat. My guidelines got completely messed up because I couldn't stomach half of the things that I should have been able to while going through this process. I'm just confused now at what I should be eating.
When you were a little over a month out what were you eating? Should I be eating things like chicken? or just deli meats? mushy things like oatmeal? potatos? veggies?! I was told not to eat any fruit with seeds so does that mean things like...strawberries are out?
Oh I'm so disheartened right now from this whole thing. I just want to be able to sit down and eat a meal without having that nauseous feeling or if I do find something I can stomach...sometimes I'll get that discomfort feeling as if I'm eating too big of a piece or something. Ugh. But I'm not!
I dunno, maybe this happens to everyone.

Lets see at a month out I was eating scrambled eggs with some cheese sprinkled on top. chicken salad, tuna salad, pinto beans with sour cream and cheese, sugarfree pudding with protein powder mixed in and protein shakes.
Here is a website that might help a lil bit. I know I liked the ricotta bake on this site.

And I had a lot of days early out when I didn't want to eat anything and couldn't stand to smell of foods.
Strawberries are out for awhile. I'm 6 months out and I just had some yesterday. I sliced 3 up on a salad I was eating. You want to watch potatoes cause they are very starchy. I ate them though. Early out I made the kind out of a box.

Thanks so much for the suggestions and that website. I just opened it up and I'm gonna give it a look, see if I can find anything.
I was eating eggs a bit but I found that they made me like really...gassy. Is that normal for you guys? I'll give them a try though. Honestly before my RNY I hated eggs..never ate them. But they were pretty good before.
One of the surgeons (mine was in Haiti a few days after my surgery lol) said to stay away from protein shakes because they were liquid calories. Hmm. lol

You can't stomach a single bite of something? Do you throw up? If that's the case I'd talk to your doctor. You might have a stricture. Other than that, maybe you just need to spend more time between bites. 10 minutes between bites of food and 5 minutes between sips of liquids is what's reccommended by my doctor. You really have to chew it to death too.
I've thrown up a few times. I mean...I guess it was throwing up. lol (Sorry it doesn't even compare to pre-WLS throwing up in my opinion)
I think you are probably right about spending more time between bites. I had no idea it was 10 minutes! That is just nuts! I was told to take a half hour for a meal. I definitely learned my lesson with the chewing part, though. lol I am very careful about that now for sure.
I don't throw up every time I eat. I just...feel so nauseous. Just completely turned off to the thought of eating. Both before and after I eat. I hope I'm making sense.

hi girl, i`m sorry you are having a bad time.
at this stage i believe you should be able to eat soft solids. chilli is great for some of the pouchs. and also scramble eggs. use to have vegie chicken soup mixed in the mixer lol, cotagge cheesee. some tuna. and that kindda stuff.
but every surgeron have diferents food stages. if you are having problems getting down what you are supppost to be eating according to your surgeron program call him and let him know. is very importatn that he is aware of this.
just rember that eating is gonna be a funny feeling for a while so take it easy. it will get better soon.
take care.

Hey! I just want to say you are the most positive, uplifting person ever! I really think that. Every time I read your posts/replies I think "She is just so inspiring! I am going to strive to have her positivity!!". *hugs to you* You're an absolute sweetheart. Just wanted to say that lol
Chilli is good yep. I've tried it at a few resturants and it went down really well. I think they make it a lil' spicy so maybe I'll make some at home and see how that goes! Good idea, I forgot about that.
Definitely very odd eating lately. It seems more like I'm eating for the nutritional value and not so much for the joy/taste/pleasure of it. Very different for me lol

I am now 6 weeks out although i didnt go the RNY route I still have some issues with certian things. According to my doctor I dont have very many restrictions just your basic nono items. But I am eating chicken and fish with ease a little tiny bit of beef and some other meats like shrimp. Some veggies dont settle to well like lettuce but its not real bad. The main thing that I had to adjust to was size of bite. I can sit down and take a tiny bite put my fork down and chew for a min and swallow and give it time to settle while i talk with a friend at lunch and be fine. Or i can set down cram a large bit in my mouth of the same food as before and it gives me hell for a good hour. so although it can be hard the easiest way to adjust to the foods i think is little baby bites.
Good Luck
Oh and like they said eeggggssssss are goood lol

Oh how I envy you! Chicken was meat of choice pre-WLS and I've tried it a few times in different ways and the texture and taste aren't as amazing as I once remembered it to be lol
Have yet to try shrimp, thought maybe it would be a bit too....rough? Salad is a go for me, though.
Yeah I'm really going to need to practice my eating-slower-skills. I guess my program didn't put as much of an emphasis as to how slow you had to go, just that it was...slow.
Oh where would I be without my OH!
