Epic FAIL

So, I was doing SO well last week, and this weekend I ruined it, completely.  I am still doing the pre-op diet, but Saturday in the wee morning hours I ate junk nonsense and the same last night, AND didn't take my vitamins.

Sighhh

Did anyone have a really hard time with the pre-op diet (not the liquid)?!

All I can say is that you did not ruin anything! I'm also PreOp and am on a PreOp diet...The nutritionist has me on a high protein, low sugar/carb plan because she wanted me to get used to what a life after surgery will be like...I've been doing this for a month and a half and I've had good days and bad days. You can't beat yourself up for a few bad days. You just have to accept it, move on and get back on track.  You've been eating a certain way for 20+ years so it takes a little time to get a new routine.  One thing that really helped me was to get rid of all of the junk food from my house so if I am feeling the need to eat some junk food I have to actually get by butt up and leave the house to get something...

Just stay focused on why you are doing this whole thing and if you have a bad day or two know that you aren't the only one and you can definitely recover from it :)

you admitted it...you're honest about it...
now move on and get through the next day...
the pre-op diet is so much worse than the way you'll be living the rest of your life post-op.
keep your eye on the prize!!
you'll get through it!

Thanks guys!

I'm so glad for those responses, because that's probably a big reason we've all failed diets throughout ours lives.. we screw up, so we throw ourselves a pity party by eating more!  But I am so glad y'all are such good motivation!

Plus, y'all are right... it's a learning process.  I'm not going to do it perfectly, especially before surgery.

Again, thanks!

yeah hun i wouldnt beat yourself up about it too much.
I dont know what your preop diet intails but mine was sticking to 1300 calories a day for 3 months pre-op, it wasnt a requirement for insurance or anything i just went to see a nutritionist when i decided to pursue surgery and wanted to try to learn some portion control.

One thing i found very helpful for staying "on track" was what my nutritionist called "OK cheating" and i was allowed to do this ONLY on the weekends.
Basically it consisted of my being able to have fast food BUT sticking to the low carb/low calorie items. my staple was anything on the fresco menu at taco bell. I felt like i was cheating when i ordered the fresca bowl but in reality it was only like 350 calories and its all the goodness of a burrito w/out the tortilla =)
Hope this helps some.
good luck
