Easy Way Out

So my BFF of 12 years is losing weight like crazy. I am extremely happy  her (im not a hater) so i said to her (jokingly) "dude u are so skinny im jealous", so she says "girl please it is so hard, im not taking the  easy way out like you". and I was angry with her. I let her know that it is not easy at all there is pain sometime hairloss and plateaus among other things. she said well if u are offended im sorry but i stand by statement. I was so angry so i guess my question is how did you deal with those type of comments?

Well if I were you I would have chewed her out...actually I probably wouldn't have since I hate fighting, but that was really rude of her to say that. What you should do is kidnap her for a weekend and the two of you go somewhere and make her live your life for a couple days, food, work outs, restrictions (to bad she can't experience dumping) and then see how she feels about it. It probably won't help and she will always think that way but it doesn't hurt to try. good luck

ya my best friend of 8 years made a similar comment. . .i gave her a hershey kiss and she made some rude comment about "well i dont get to have a surgery to take all my weight away i have to "work" to get mine off"

i was pretty offended but oh well. . .shes just mad ill look better at her wedding next year then she will lol jk

we all have this kindda friends. she is jelous! so don´t lisent to her.....
and this is defindly the not the easy way out!!!! is the hardest decision ever!!! and lot of pain. so you know what u have been through. don´t let others despise your hard work!!

honestly...if i had a friend who 1. made that comment and then 2. STUCK BY IT after i made it clear to her it was NOT the easy way out. It would seriously be the END of that friendship for me...because think about it, if she feels that way she really wont be someone u can talk to about issues or confide in about anything WLS related and because WLS becomes you life for a while ...she really doesnt need to b a part of your life.
A real friend is supportive at all times through all instances.

You know I haven't had anyone say that to me but if they did I would probably lose it!

thats wut i was thinking, we have been friends for so long and seen each other through so much but how can i think she will be a good support system if she is making comments like this pre-op? also thanks for the poem post it really put some things in perspective for me
