 1)  I  never had this problem, so it's probably best answered by someone else.

2) I started walking immediately after surgery.  I resumed my regular exercise routine within 4 weeks but I waited on any ab wor****il 6 weeks.  The earlier you start into a routine, the better it will stick.

3) The more weight I lose, the more I noticed that I do have the excess belly skin.  Granted, I have also had a baby so I know that plays a part in it.  I guess it just depends on the person as to how much extra skin you will have and if it bothers you enough (cosmetically or medically) to get plastic surgery.  At this point I don't want plastic surgery because the thought of another surgery terrifies me but maybe in the future.

4) Just do as much reading as you can.  I visited a psychologist out of my own free will and that was very well worth it.  Other than that, as long as you realize it's a major life over haul and you are ready to commit, than you are good to go!

hi gir.

1. I talke to lots of people abut surgery and no body told me about this just a girlfriend about 1 week before my surgery i really appriciated that honesty. and yes. I was no able to do it. so I was very lucky  my mom was there to help me out. i was about 4 days that she had to help me. i thought that it was gonna be soo embarrsing. but it was nott!. so don´t worry about that.

2.- my dr. told me that my body willl let me know and it did. i start going to the gym 2 months after. surgery `cuz i did not feel like it before.  but you are gonna start walking since day one.

3.- everyone ask me about this and  I would tell u EVERY  LOSE SKIN IN THE WORLD WOULD WORTH IT!!!!. i have a terrible skin problem in my arm area since i was hevier and the wl just turned worse lo. about my belly is not that bad but under the panties area is a bit lose. so i`m gettin a mini tummy tuck. in about 6 months or so. i had my surgery when i was 23 also.

4. this surgery is not magic. is gonna hurt. is gonna be a lot of tears. but is also full of surprises and woow moments. that worth all the emosional path.

and the best advice i can give you IS MAKE YOUR DECISION AND STICK TO IT!!!!. THE WORLD IS FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DARE!!!!!. you have to take control of your life u are in the age that the decision you make can change your life forever!.

good luck!!!!

01.  Short answer?  No.  My mom, bless her heart, had to do it for me.  It was amusing for her, though.  She said, and I quote, "I haven't felt this 'motherly' in years!"  I had to withstand the shame 2 weeks or so before I could reach back there.  Haha.

02.  The don't know.  I never weight trained.  But the doc said 6-weeks for high-strain exercises.

03.  That depends on your "normal" size.  I.E. the bigger you are, the more you'll lose, the more skin you'll have.  I myself, having lost 170#, have an apron.  I plan on losing lots more and so plan on having a tummy tuck. Some guys are lucky and it isn't that bad.  I'm not one of those.  Who knows, maybe you are.

04.  Oh, yes.  The mental hardship.  One of the ladies in my psych group called it like having post-partum depression.  I had it.  It sucks ass.  It didn't help that I was alone most of the time in bed.  Surround yourself with friends.  If that can't be done, get a hobby.  But nothing to mind-intensive.  My hobby was reading and writing so I thought everything was chicken curry.  But I couldn't concentrate.  So I couldn't keep myself occupied.  So there I was, alone with my thoughts.  So be careful with that.  I was not ready for that at all.  Oh, oh.  I had to get a sippy cup because I couldn't sit up by myself.  I learned that the hard way by trying to drink something whilst lying down.  Biiiiig mess.  Lolololol

 1. bring some wipes and/or a squirty bottle to put sudsy water in and then sit on a towel. It took me a few days until I could poop anyway, so the wipes were fine (314 lbs + swelling).

2. I am 4 weeks out and I just started kicking my own ass at the gym. I'm going light on the abs, but not for long.

3. I don't know yet. I imagine so.

4. It's weird to think I will never sit down to a big plate of food again. Weird but awesome. I feel free and proud of myself for the first time in a long time.  Instead of focusing on short-term goals like "how am I gonna eat this whole cake?" I'm getting psyched about things like "I'm gonna be able to shop at H&M!" or "I'm gonna look hot at my friend's wedding in July!" and "damn, sex is so much better already!"

Don't worry girl, you're gonna rock this sh**!

1.  I didn't have a problem wiping but, as others have said, many do.  Definitely bring some wipes to help.

2.  They'll have you walking a few hours after surgery, so be ready for that.  As far as weight training, it took me about 6 months after surgery to start that.  I should have started much sooner though!

3.  The day of surgery I was 293 and I'm now down to 189.  I do have quite a bit of extra skin but since I know I still have weight to lose, I don't let it bother me.  The one area that I am having problems is my underarms.  It's not great!

4.  I think the biggest thing I wish I had known before surgery was that women wth PCOS tend to keep their lower abdomen longer.  It took me a long time to get over the way I looked in the mirror.  If you do have PCOS, it's just a warning.  You will lose in that area, it just takes longer.  And while the mental part of this is rough, it's much different than what one thinks will happen.  Definitely surround yourself with your friends and find something that will keep you busy and not alone with your thoughts.  It helps to have people you can talk to your own age who have also gone through something similar.

1. My first surgery, getting banded, I was able to wipe, no problem. The day after they make you drink this terrible "contrast" stuff that allows them to check for leaks and it gave me TERRIBLE diarrhea so I got to find out early that, yes, I could still wipe. After my sleeve, with a catheter, four abdominal drains, and lots of other random problems I had more trouble. I broke down once and asked my mom to do it for me.... other than that I just kept trying new angles until I could get it. I'm pretty determined

2. Which surgery? My doctor said hold off on ab workouts for 4-6 weeks, but he said I could run and jog and whatever as soon as I was up to it, basically. Lifting over 10lbs was restricted for 1 week with my band, 2 weeks with my sleeve.

3. I've been obese my whole life and my belly fat has been suprisingly managable. I was biggest in the belly, and I'm starting to get a tiny crease right above my pubic line, but on the other hand I was showing some friends my new scars yesterday and they were like, "so you'll be able to wear a bikini soon!" I like died. but they insisted that it was true. My upper arms are the most jiggly, suprisingly.

4. not at the moment...
As someone told me lately, everyone deserves the chance to fly!

1. Yes, thank God. But it was often a long process which required some painful contortion.

2. Four weeks out I started working out, and haven't looked back since.

3. The excess skin on my belly isn't too bad...yet. It is where I carry a good bit of my weight, but it's really bouncing back quite nicely. I may have a mini tuck someday. My arms however are another story.

4. I wish I had done this sooner.

RNY on 02/12/09 with
1. Didnt have a bowel movement until 5 days after surgery, by then i was down 15-18lbs and it was easier to wipe then it had been in a quite a while. It did help that i was pumped on vicodin =)

2. just started lifting my little 3lb weights daily last week (at 2 months out) and have been jumping on my elliptical daily. I've decided to start working the "core" next week.

3. my tummy has gone down a LOT (take a look at the pics) and i know there is going to be some xtra skin...i'll deal with that later. I am definitely NOT opposed to plastics.

4. stock up on a good face and body lotion....my skin is more scaley then a crocs ass!!
there are MANY tears to be shed. You'll get past it i swear! surround yourself with lots of great people...and if at all possible, with people who have also had WLS...support is KEY!

GOOD LUCK hun
