pureee
on tuesday i may be able to start puree'ing. *lets cross our fingers my drs apt goes fabulous!*
anyways on the list of things i can puree is chicken & turkey.
does anybody have any suggestions on how i should be cooking this chicken or turkey before puree'ing it?
i was thinking of buying a george foreman grill, or simply frying a chicken breast in low fat oil...
all suggestions are welcome (as are any puree favs!!!) =)
thanks ya'll!

chicken is not my best friend, but i really like indian food, so i either marinate then grill then sauce then puree, or saute in light olive oil, sauce, then puree. not an everyday thing, maybe once a weekish. most of the time i do cottage cheese, egg salad, tofu with manwich (sloppy toes), flaky fish (don't have to puree), tuna fish, scallops, cream of wheat (only once in a while cuz it's pretty sparse on the nutrition). if i need two things on a plate i add a tbs or two of mashed potatoes or mashed squash. i should note that when i "sauce" i am very conscious of choosing low sugar, low fat saucing options. oh yeah, and bean-less chili with a dab of light sour cream. hmm, lots of shakes. i should note that i have been using a baby spoon since it slows me down enough to keep me from barfing.
p.s.: i've been doing the puree thing for 3 weeks, and i am jonesing for carbs real bad. today i snuck some honey nut cheerios. i feel really bad. forgive me.

I have a thing about purees to, and I'm currently on that phase. mostly, I buck the system and refuse to puree things, just eating what is already "mushy". I actually call this phase "mushies". In terms of chicken and turkey though, the best way to get it in a consistancy that it will go down is to mix it with something liquidy or slick- sauces and stuff are good for that. Obviously, be careful about the calories. Also, dark meat will be less dry by nature than white meat, so it will be easier going down. Make sure not to overcook the meat too, that can make it dry as well.
good luck on the new phase, I celebrated like whoa when I got my first bite of mashed potatoes four days ago. mmmm

here is what i did.
boil your chicken in spices until its cooked. cut up into small chunks....mix in alfredo sauce (walmart $2) then put in the blender. its acutally not that bad.
i also did lasagna the same way, i just didnt put noodles in what i made for me vs. my family
chili is good too...you can try eggs in this stage. eggs with cheese are high in protein, just remember not to overdo the cheese if you are one that gets blocked up easy....whew....that part is horrible!
but you live and you learn
