New!
Hello.... !!
I started this journey on March 17th (St. Patrick's Day!) .. I attended the information session, and on April the 2nd was my consultation. I am so nervous and excited and anxious! I have my first session with the dietitian on Thursday, April 9th and then my psych eval May the 8th. I haven't really gotten to sit down and talk with anyone... ANYONE!!! near my age that has gone through this, so this forum is way awesome! After my psych eval and my dietitian meetings, my info will go off for insurance approval. It's all very nerve-wrecking, especially since that's all I can think of instead of school!
What kind of advice and/or info can you guys give me?

Congrats on taking the first step to the rest of your life. I know its sounds lame but it takes a lot to take that first step and to change yourself. This has been an amazing experience for me I had surgery on March 20th, 2009 so I'm still new to this whole process. My advice would be to learn as much as you possibly can and start practicing the rules and exercising now before surgery so that you are use to it by the time you get it done. This site is great for information and everyone here is really helpful! check out the main board and the lapband/realize band or the RNY or any of the other types of surgeries to learn more from others as well. There is no such thing as a stupid question so ask away and the people are always willing to reply with helpful answers! GOOD LUCK!!!

Yay! Thanks guys for the welcome. I have insurance through the hospital I work at, MedAdmin Solutions, so it's kind of not easy to predict whether I'll be approved or not, but! My BMI is over 40, although I don't have any medical conditions. I am 21 and my doctor and I have decided, insurance allowing, that I will have the RNY.
