What do you guys do for exercise?
I am doing great with cardio, but I need to add some resistance training to get my abs, back, thighs, and arms looking good.  i don't want to look deflated once the weight comes off.
I'm joining a gym today, so I'm looking for some ideas.
Also, what's your opinion about time spent on cardio vs. resistance?
I'll take anything you can give me.

i think its  awesome what you're doing. personally i wii fit every day. but when i was a member of a gym i actually asked them for advice on how to tone as well as calorie burning. they set me up with a plan of light resistence weight like 5 or 10 minutes on each machine and a specific weight limit for my size and height and it seemed super easy at first but after a week or so i was really feeling it. im still preop and im probably not the best reference since i dont know the after of post op but if you're joining a gym i would totally ask the staff! they can be super helpful. good luck!!!!

As someone who works out 5 days a week, I can say that cardio is the base of any successful fitness plan. Resistance is more for developing core strength, so a combination of cardio, muscle building/toning, and resistance is key. My plan is 1/2 cardio, 2/3 muscle building, and 1/3 resistance/core training. While the Wii Fit games are fun, it's not really exercise. HTH

while i have found everyone on here helpful and inspiring, maybe i should back out? i wii fit because its what works for me, and it has helped in fact both my surgeon and my nutritionist menitoned it was a good way to keep my body moving, no maybe its not hardcore run 7 miles a day chuck norris cardio but going from almost nothing, my measly 30 minutes a day really kicks my ass. and when joining a gym isnt an option i think the wii fit is more than just something thats fun to do.
chris- whatever you decide and find out for your workout routine, good luck to you! maybe i dont know anything but id say find something that works, that you're comfortble with and enjoy it, good luck.

Hey girl I Excercise about 7 hours per week it could be more or less lol.

I do taebo (cardio) 4 times per week.
and pilates 3-4 times per week.

I love love my exercise. you have to find something that you love!
The ideal is to do alot of cardio and some resistance to  build the muscle `cuz if you have muscles you burn more calories. so is great. just be careful `cuz muscle weight more than fat. so don´t get frustrated about that. : )

good luck It seams you are doing great job! keep it up.
hugs.

 thanks everybody!!!
i rocked out on a fabulous bike ride, and just went on a post-dinner walk with my dude (helps the gas).
tomorrow i start at the gym, which also includes free tanning (i am irish, haha!) and massage chairs (can't wait to sit my sweaty buns in one of those).
i've been busting a**, and my bod feels strong and sore in a good way. i can't wait to see some results.

I'm an amateur boxer and I know that it kicks my ass every time and gets you back into shape very quickly, its a lot of resistance and strength training. I'm pretty pissed that i cant go back to the ring for another 4 weeks but oh well that's life. Try a cardio kick boxing class. Its the only work out ill do. In one hour i usually burn about 2755. Good Luck.

dude!

i have one of those exercise balls and i do sit-ups [2 different kinds to target upper and lower abs], push ups and some other crazy exercises I learned from the video it came with. It's fun and not so hard on your joints and I've noticed results pretty quickly.

I also do cardio on the regular,  but the ball thing is fun and not to mention really comfy to sit on when your at your computer or watching tv or something. Plus, even when you are just sitting, it works your core muscles.

Habit is habit and not to be flung out of the window by any man, but coaxed downstairs a step at a time.

It's unfortunate that you're feelings were hurt. If Wii Fit works for you, then great, but I wrote in response to the original poster who wanted to know about cardio and resistance training. None of which a Wii can adequately help with.
