so i dont even have a date yet but ive been curious about this... any post op pain that you had that you didnt expect? ie: no one told me that after giving birth, going to the bathroom, would be like the worst hellish pain in the world! or after my gall bladder surgery hiking my leg up to cut my toenails was near impossible. i know it sounds silly probably, but im aware of the aches and pains that i will have but anything that no one warned you about that you would never have thought about? like did you have to pee more frequently since your stomach was smaller?  was it hard to lift things? (i have a toddler who is a cuddle bug) i cant even think of anything else weird, im just curious.
thanks!

Well I'll tell you this, I couldn't wipe myself when I went to the bathroom, I couldn't bend over enough so my mom did everything for me.  Also, you will not be able to pick up your toddler for a bit, I think my surgeon told me nothing more than 5 pounds for a few weeks....

For the most part there hasn't been any unexpected pain or issues other than it hurts to lean to my left since thats where my port is and its still healing, along with my incesions. I have actually peed a a lot less since surgery and I know its because I am not getting my water intake in like i need to.

I had my surgery on the 20th of May so I'm just shy of 2 weeks out, I believe.

The pain was pretty unbearable for me in the hospital for those 2-3 days I was in. BUT...and I honestly think that this helped me...they told me that getting up to walk was very good for your recovery...so that's what I did. I didn't hike a mile, but I would get out of bed (in the hospital) and just walk with the nurses (or family) and then after a few days, by myself. It really seemed to help with my pain a lot for whatever reason. Maybe it was just discomfort from laying/sitting in the bed.

I do know that my left side hurt a whole lot more than anywhere else. And still does to this day. I have a lot of discomfort in the morning, but the medicine (liquid vicodin) is very helpful. At least for me though...they said it was like that because they put the stapler in on that side and it's quite large.

Don't expect to lift things...stairs are doable but TAKE THEM SLOW! lol I didn't at first and wowsa was I surprised. I stand and prop my leg up to shave my legs and that wasn't something I could do until just a few days ago and it really does take a lot out of you.

That's just me, though!
