Marianna,
Are you taking 1 "dose" of the calcium or 1 caplet? If it's one caplet, you should check your bottle for the dosage. Typically one dose is 2 caplets. Just want to make sure you are getting enough. Also, you should be taking an iron supplement as well so you don't become anemic, just don't take it within 2 hours of taking calcium or it won't be absorbed.

hi steph. i`m takin 3 caplets per day. I Take bariatric advantage.
the 1th ones i got. said that I should take 2 per day. but now the new bottles say that the dosis is 3 caplets per day. and yes i know that i have to wait 2 hours to take the calcium and alos that i can`t take more than 500 mg. cuz the absortion. that`s right, right?
some one toldme that it was better if i take te calcium with food is thisi right? or do i have to wait a after eating. (cuz my nutricionist told me that i shouln´t mix it with my food but í`m not sure `cuz every body say something diferent)
about the iron. my dr. told me to take the b12 I ask them about the iron. and if i rember it right he told me that the b12 is fine and that he is going to put ime in to iron if i need it. and my blood test says I`m fine with iron. but I have an appoiment next week. and i`m gonna ask him `cuz everyboy seams to be taking the iron.. and i also see that some people only take the sublingual b12 2 times per week.
thanks for your concern i really appriciated!.

That's right on the 500 mg, you can't absorb more than that at one time. and as for taking it with food, here is what I found on the internet...
As for the iron, I don't know of many people that aren't taking a supplement for it, especially menstrating women. You could take it to be safe, but as long as you have regular labs and are monitored you should be fine. Also, check your multivitamin, if it contains iron it isn't being absorbed since you are taking your calcium at the same time. They compete to be absorbed and calcium wins. I'm just not sure how much iron you are getting daily from your foods. Ya know?

How do I take my calcium supplement?
- It is important to read supplement labels and follow the directions for use.
- When your calcium supplement is well absorbed, your body can easily use it. For best absorption, most calcium supplements should be taken with food. Calcium citrate is an exception; it can be taken with or without food.
- It is best to spread out the calcium you consume from diet and/or supplements throughout the day. In fact, for best absorption, it is recommended to consume 500mg of calcium or less at one time.
