I am doing liquid diet right now and my surgery is in 6 weeks... I do Isopure... it has 40 grams of carbs in a 20oz ready to drink bottle... Its the only protein drink I can tolerate.. I dont like the milky kind... only downside is Isopure is way expensive...

Your liquid diet could mean protein shakes, it could mean clear liquids or it could be just liquids in general. lol... so best advice to ask surgeon... good luck and I hope its just liquids in general to make it easier for you!!!

I'm on my liquid diet now...
I've been eating protien shakes, carnation instant breakfasts, jello, drinkable yogurts, protein water, chicken broth... and that is pretty close to everything i've had in the last two weeks... i had an icee today...ohhh i've had pudding too. I was given a list that I've stuck to...Other people have different rules though, sooo, i can't speak for everybody. I don't think it is asa bad as it seems, I've been doing just fine with mine. Good luck with your diet and your surgery.

The best thing to do is to check with your surgeon/dietitician about what you can eat/drink during your liquid diet.  Every program is different but you want to make sure you're doing what you're program wants you to do.

But on that note, I was able to have 3-5 protein shakes a day as long as I reached my minimum protein intake intake.  Each persons minimum is different.  I could choose whatever brand I wanted.  I did Boost, Ensure, Equate, SlimFast.

Aside from that, I could have any non-calorie liquids I wanted.  And broth.  That was it.  Mine was very minimal in what I was allowed to have.

But I was given a really awesome idea of freezing my protein drinks and then having ice cream!

And just as a warning and something to help you, the first 2-4 days are going to be the hardest and your sense of smell will be heightened.  Resist the temptation!!  And try not to watch TV during this time period.  There are so many food commercials that although you may not notice them now, you will definitely notice during this time.

Good luck!  You will do awesomely!

I want to loudly AMEN the suggestion not to watch TV- I'm on my 2 weeks liquid post-op, and I still haven't gotten over seeing a dominos commericial when I was waiting in the hospital for a test. Honestly, I've dreamt about it. it's gonna be the first solid I eat, and usually I would never crave that ever. Stupid TV

My pre-op diet was pretty strict, I was only allowed 3 protein shakes with under 15 carbs a day, plus up to 2 cups of chicken broth, and as much sugar free jello or popscicles as I wanted. It sucked, but my liver was nice and small when they operated, so it was worth it. good luck
