So I'm gonna pack my bag tomorrow for the 3-5 days that i'll be in hospital, But I don't exactly know what to pack.
Also, are you allowed to wear pj's, say the next day after surgery... or is it always the gown?

ok here is what i think would be useful...

1. pj`s
2. tooth brush.
3.small pillow (this is to push agains your tummy when you sneez or move so it won´t hurt to much)
4. slippers...
5. a sleep gown to wear when you walk to the hall of the hospital.
6. wipes.
7. very confortable cloth to go back home! and thats it.
I spend the most of the time sleeping... so i brought books and magazines and i was not able to read those haha i was soo doped!

OOOH the pillow is a great idea, i didn't think of that!
And yeah, you know how I said I was gonna read the rest breaking dawn in hospital?
I figured i'd be too tired to do so, so I kinda read like 12 chapters last week
I couldn't stop reading haha!

Mariana has a great list started.  The only couple of thing I would suggest is to pack your own toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, definitely lotion, etc) and to check with your hospital if you can wear your own pj's gown/pants.  You'll be much more comfortable if you can but no use packing them if you can't.  Chapstick is a must as are extra hair ties and a brush.

Oh, and that you give your ID and debit/credit card to someone you trust that will be there with you.  Before I was sent home I had to go to the pharmacy and have prescriptions filled but my insurance didn't cover one of them so I had to pay for it.  This is more of a "just in case."

Last thing, I completely agree with not taking books or magazines.  I spent the whole time too drugged up or sleeping to even consider touching a book.  And zoning out with the TV was kind of fun.

Definitely Chapstick! My lips were super dry afterwards and I wasn't allowed to physically drink water for 24 hours. It was a life saver. Also mouthwash, and stretchy pants or sweatpants to wear home, something with a lose elastic waist.

As the other said, your lipe will definitely dry out!

Sorry I wasn't able to reply before.  This is the first chance I've had!

After surgery, there will be PLENTY of time to sleep.  Just remember to use it wisely and actually do that.

We'll be saving a space for you on the bench!
