When can I drink an alcoholic beverage?
mm I don´t know about the band. but my dr. told me to wait 6 months bf drinking.
about 4 months out I tryed 1/2 cup of wine. it was ok. but i had my 1th ofcial drink the exacly day i turned 6 month out. i drank 4 coktails and that was it i was drunk hahaha.
but it would be great if you can wait more than 4 months `cuz alcochol can be a transfer adiction so be very careful with that.
take care

I waited about 7 weeks (right after getting back on "real" food), and then had my first glass of Chardonnay. Wine works well with me. I don't worry too much about the calories b/c I have a hell of a time just getting in my 600 or so per day, so the "empty calories" are kind of a help.
Beer, I can have a little bit, but the carbonation makes my pouch unhappy, so I stay away for the most part. Boy do I miss a good cold beer on a warm day.
I had a Bacardi and Diet last weekend and it went well. I kept stirring my drink to get the bubbles out. It went fairly well. It was a nice change.
I mainly have a glass or two of Chardonnay. One glass, I'm buzzed. By the end of the second glass, I'm drunk. I've also noticed that I sober up really quickly too. I do, however, refuse to have more than two glasses. Though I may sober up, I've got no clue what my BAC is, and I don't want to give myself alcohol poisoning accidentally. I also WILL NOT DRIVE now after drinking anything.
Wierd thing, no hangovers.....used to get them horribly. Now, not so much.
I'm not sure how you'll be with the band, but that's been my experience.

i had my first drink over the weekend (which put me about 2 months post-op but i had RNY)
i had a Bacardi and Diet Coke. It was DELICIOUS! and i got drunk so fast...which was insanely wierd.
My friends mom was banded in October and she drinks about once a week and she gets trashed off of one or two drinks as well...
good news is at least we're cheap dates ;)
