Anyone out there have any experaince with piercings? I have a few more body piercings(!) and don't know if i will need to remove them too?

Grateful for anyones words of wisdom!

You should definitely remove any body piercings to avoid risk of any infection to yourself.  The tongue ring I'm not sure about but I'd ask your surgeon.

Remove that sucker. I left mine in when I had a c-section, to the dismay of my doctor, and ended up with a hole in the back of my throat. It didn't hurt or anything, but it was GNARLY!

hi, when I was in the pre-op room they put my tounge ring and glasses in an envelope. They gave me my glasses when i woke up in recovery so i could see...without them im blind as a bat lol. My tounge hole was fine as it was still opened when i put my stud back in when they took me to my room.

i gave my tounge ring about 10.30am
woke up in recovery about 12.15
they finnally wheeled me back to my room about 1pm

I used to have a tongue ring and when I had surgery before (not wls) I had to remove it. The reason they gave was that they put the tube down your throat and they didnt want to risk the ball coming off and possibly getting into my airway. It makes sense and you should be fine by taking it out and putting it back in again after surgery. Plus they could possibly tear the hole by pushing the tube against the bar.

Hope that helped a little.

Yea, you'll definitely have to remove it. I took my nose piercing out before being wheeled into the operating room, and when I tried to put it in later, the hole had closed up! The shop where I had it done re-pierced it for free.

Whats a monroe piercing? I also have a piercing in a 'personal' place :) So you even have to remove the ones 'down there'? Sorry if this is stupid to ask after what everyone already said but I just want to know exactly. Thanks in advance.

Hiya All!

Thanks for the advice!

So i have to remove EVERYTHING!!!! Gosh, that will be soo strange! Will have to get the BF to help remove one of them! Sorry TMI !!!!

BTW, a Monroe is a piercing in the same place Marilyn Monroe had her beauty spot on her face. Kinda above the lip on the cheek (kinda!, google image that one!)

Thanks again people, also if anyone wants to add me as a friend i will accept your request! Only got three friends here :(
