behaviorist cleared me!!!
so yesterday was my last behaviorist apt before I see the surgeon. yesterday morning I got on the scale and it told me I gained a lb. I was all ok I am not getting approved, I was supposed to lose 5% of my body weight and I've only dropped like 7lbs so far. So I went in got weighed, it jumped around and she took the lowest weight. But even the highest was lower than my scale at home said. So I actually lost a lb not gained. But I still wasn't at my 5%. So I went in and talked to her about all my new found habits, but unfortunately they’re all still really new so I didn't know if that would help my case. After an hour she cleared me for surgery!!!!! However… and this is a big one, before I can be approved by the surgeon, or even see the surgeon, they want me to get a note from my pcp saying my heartburn is better and I don't have sleep apnea, see when I first started the process I wrote down everything that I was concerned I may have been suffering with so I wouldn't have any complications at all, and my husband said he felt like I was snoring really loud and stopping breathing in my sleep. Now if I do have sleep apnea it would help me get approved by insurance, however, the test requires a sleep study, and personally I don't know if I can take any more time off work. So I'm stuck, I don't know what to do, I can take the sleep study which would be a huge pain in the butt (plus i have no idea what it entails) and its possible to delay my surgery significantly, however if I do have it, its almost a guarantee on the insurance approval, no worrying about what if I don't get approved. Or I can beg my pcp to write me a note saying I don't have it, speed up the process, not take any more time off work that I don't need to, still most likely get approved but there's a possibility I wont, and have the surgery in probably may or June absolute worst case scenario July. sorry for the novel, thats where i stand right now, super excited but dont know what to do about the sleep test. hmm...
Congrats on getting cleared. WooHoo! I can totally understand where you are coming from about taking additional time off work and I really do know what you mean. I am lucky enough to qualify for FMLA&Short Term Disability. Have you looked at that with your employer? So basically the way ours works is I do use vaca/sick time for these baby appointments once I have my surgery and S.T.D comes and approves it will go back to the 1st appt it had effected so then I get those days back! Double of a Vaca!

Honesty about your faults and weaknesses goes a long way towards making the necessary changes after surgery...Your ability to honestly assess why you're struggling shows that you're in the right head for this...so CONGRATS on that part...post-op it tends to be the hardest change to make.

So i had to do two sleep studies and like the previous person said they are in the evenings. I had to be at mine by 9:30 they hooked you up to all these machines then you go to bed. The place that I went was like a hotel with a nice flat screen TV so I could watch TV or read until i felt like i was tired. I left mine by 5 AM got home slept for 2 more hours until 7 then started my day. No time off work at all. I think the hardest part is not drink caffeine past noon. i was dying for my 3 PM cup of coffee. Anyway, I got diagnosed with sleep apnea and they say they want you to use the cpap machine when you are in the hospital, so it may be a good thing to get tested.
I did the wole process backwards and started by seeing a Bariatric surgeon to make sure i was eligible for WLS (as the doc I had been seeing for 2 yrs left the practice last year and I did not ave a relationship with another doctor yet). I was and e actually referred me to a sleep study place he sends all his patients to. They were really nice, and I only had to pay my copay for insurance. I would wait until you see your surgeon and see what he says.....i did not even know i had sleep apnea until i took the questionnaire. Anyway hope that helps! good luck!
