Will be 4 weeks out tomorrow and need help/words of encouragement
Hello,
tomorrow I will be four weeks out and am having a hard time lately. I have lost 32 pounds and was doing so well until I went back to work a week and half ago. Now if I get an entire day down at work without feeling exausted and having bouts of nausea, I feel lucky. Maybe I am just doing to much to quick but I honestly felt great until I went back. My work is really easy as I can sit at my desk and Im not sure why I am so very tired. It is very hard to get in all of my protein because I am naseous. Im even having a hard time with my water and vitamins. My surgeon has my on stricly meat, eggs and cheese and protein drinks. The only foods I seem to be able to eat w/o them getting stuck is cheeses and eggs. I just want to feel normal again. How long did it take you all to start to feel normal again? HELP!!!!

Oh Sweetie, it gets better! I PROMISE!! I had my surgery on Nov 20 and went back to work on Dec 22 and was EXHAUSTED!!! I was great at home for that 1st month, so I thought I was ready, but obviously wasn't. I also found I was a lot more tired due to having to set the alarm clock. If I went to bed to late, then I felt sick the whole next day. Nothing I did would make it better, I would just go home and fall into bed and get a good night sleep, and wake up feeling better the next day. I started a new job 2 weeks later that is an office job so I thought that would be better. But I still had a hard time concentrating due to the lack of protein I guess. Anyway, finally almost 4 months ( and -61 lbs) later I am doing well, with only an occasional bad day. I read everyones posts about how it would be after surgery, but it never really clicked until I was going threw it myself. The good news is that I feel great now and start another new job on Monday and know that it won't be so hard this time. I am focused and energetic and feeling GGGGGGRRRRReat! Just give it time, and you will too!
I'm still pre-op. I just started my luquid diet.
But, I just wanted to say that i'm sure you've been doing a GREAT job up to this point and You should just keep think positively.
I wish you the best of luck and I hope things get easier for you. I'm sure you'll be feeling alot better in no time at all.
Best wishes.

...trust me - that goes away. your healing - physically and emotionally. it isn't easy - but it gets better, don't let yourself get upset about it. it's a mental battle - it's tough but smile, smile, smile, and smile more. and when you feel upset - smile - it's a battle...once you get your emotions under control everything else falls into place. turn the stress into motivation - and smile, smile, smile, oh...if I didn't mention SMILE. your life is going to change forever...think about that. close your eyes and imagine where you'll be - and what you'll look like...and take all the stress and use it to fuel the fire for your journey.
It ain't how you die it's how you breathe - it ain't what you take it's what you leave and conceive. What you got is nothing if your soul don't represent it -...present it, because it ain't where you from it's where you been kid.
Took my heart; froze that. Promised that if I opened it up it would never close back.
Try liquid B Complex (Walmart $6) every day for energy. After a few weeks I went to every other day. Eggs made me feel really uncomfortable. I lived on protein drinks, beans and cheese for the soft food stage. I cant stand cottage cheese so never did that. I really think the B Complex will help. Give it a try. Kim

Julie,
I'm officially 8 days out and I went back to work when I was 6 days out. I thought well it's a desk job how hard could it be, but it is kicking my butt! I try to take a short nap at lunch in my car and that's been helping, but I definitely need a nap when I get home. Then I could sleep for 12 hours at night. It's what my body wants so I'm giving in to the extra rest. They say it takes 6 weeks to fully recover so just be patient with yourself. Rest if you need to rest. Maybe try shorter days or four day weeks or something like that.
You'll do great. Just remember you're only 2/3 of the way through the healing process!

I feel just as yucky and tired as you do - fortunately for me I'm able to stay home with my kids and do not work outside the home. I don't know how I'd do it if I had to. I'm so tired I haven't even been exercising up until a few days ago and even then I just walk my daughter to school since there has been a break in the weather. This wears me out, though, and it's only .8 miles round-trip.
Part of my problem is that I'm not getting in all of the protein that I should and my BP has been really low. It was 86/60 yesterday at my dr. appt.
I hate that someone else struggling like I am yet it's reassuring that what I'm experiencing is somewhat normal.
Hang in there - we'll make it through!

Sweetie, your body just went through major surgery and it is healing. You will be tired for a while but you will build your energy and strength back up, take your vits and drink your water and you'll feel better. As far as feeling nauseous, that is normal too, your pouch is healing and my surgeon explained it to me that it can be like that up to 3 months out and for me it was pretty much like that, just find something that doesn't give you that sick feeling and stick with it. If nothing else make sure you drink your protein drinks. Don't worry everything is normal. Good Luck!
