Hey Everyone, So basically I am freaking out a little bit. I have my surgeon consultation tomorrow and I know going into this he only does Open RNY. So I was wondering if there are any 20somethings that have done an open. I would sure like to talk to some of you! I introduced myself on the RNY board and once I told them about me doing Open everyone was like scared for me. It would just be nice to hear other peoples journeys in my age group.

I had RNY. After the first week I felt fine - I was also a much bigger patient then most...I mean yea it was painful - of course, but 3 months down the line you won't even remember anything...and you'll just be happy :) looking forward to your new life. Don't worry about it - it's like anything else...just a step forward. :)

It ain't how you die it's how you breathe - it ain't what you take it's what you leave and conceive. What you got is nothing if your soul don't represent it -...present it, because it ain't where you from it's where you been kid.

Took my heart; froze that. Promised that if I opened it up it would
never close back.

I had a much longer insicison but the pain goes away shortly after.  I freak out because I was going to have a scar but I have healed pretty good and i only had the surgery only 2 monthsa ago.

So, I didn't have an open RNY but I did have a C-section which I'm assuming is similar.  Don't worry.  It will be painful for the first couple of weeks but you get lots of pain med!!  Your scare will probably be smaller than mine, so I'm sure it wont be more than a couple of inches which does fade over time.

Everyone is right, you'll forget about the pain after you start to heal.

Best of luck to you!   You are a brave gal!

take a look at my pictures if you have any doubts...
with the surgery, a good diet, excercise, belief, and persistence...you can do anything! you WILL do everything you want! You will come so far and become so happy.
