New, PCOS, and RNY in less than a week!!!

I've been on here for a few weeks, but just discovered the 20's message board and LOVE IT!! I thought I would introduce myself.
I'm Katie. I'm 21 and live in Louisville, KY. I have had PCOS since puberty (as well as endometriosis). It's caused me to gain a lot of weight and not be able to lose it. I recently found out my reproductive system was in the process of shutting down and was given WLS as an option. It was this or hysterectomy... NOT an option for me! I want to have children more than anything!!! So I decided after TONS of research to have RNY! It's next wednesday, March 18th, and I'm SUPER excited!

Funny Thing...I was reading your PreOp post then i clicked to see your profile to see if you had PCOS!!! and Bamm....you have it!!!! I have it also..and i have it since puberty...in fact i dont even know if i went thru puberty???? Yah dumb question huh!!!! lmao!!! but yah im so happy for you!!! Good luck!!!
Hi Congrats on your decision! I myself have also had PCOS since puberty, and keep gaining more and more weight! Most I have ever been able to lose was 40LBS and then it and more came right back! I am also in the process of getting the RNY! I have a step daughter but we more than anything want to add to our family so I know what you mean! My husband is also on his journey for the RNY and should be getting a date soon. Keep us posted and everyone here is great if you need an answer to anything!

Sorry to hear about your situation and I can only imagin what is must feel like to possibly never be able to have children but you are making the right decision and hopefully it will reverse what is going on with your body.... This might sound weird but I've heard a lot about people talking about PCOS but I'm not exactly sure what it is... could someone please elaborate (sp) so that I can better understand it. I guess I got lucky and don't have any co-morbidities and can't wait to have my surgery next week!
