Hello Everyone
Hey ladies and gents.
My name's Louise (but everyone calls me Lo) and I just signed up tonight. I am very interested in getting wls, but even more nervous about talking about it with others. I'm pretty much the "fat girl" of my family and social circles, so few people in my life would really get it. Especially my Mum who has been lucky enough to loose weight the old fashioned way.
What I'm really interested in is the process that 20-somethings go through for approval for wls. My family back ground definately is bad enough that I need to loose weight, but I'm afraid that I'll be denied because I'm so young! Did anyone have that problem? What sort of problems did you face in your applications?
That being said, I'm pretty keen on the lap band surgery, and know that in my province (oh, I live in Canada btw!) it's covered by our medicare, so I wouldn't have to pay much out of pocket. It would also fit in with my life goals pretty well and it appeals to me most out of all the options.

Welcome girl! If you wanna check out my profile I had the Lapband Jan 08. I love it and it was a was one of the best decisions I have made! I doubt that you will get denied because of your age if you are in your 20's. Just guessing though! Well good luck and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

My name is Brittnie I'm getting the realize band (same thing as the lapband) on march 20th! I'm 21 and I got approved as have most of the other people in this forum and have not had issues because of thier age. First off congratz on making the first step to change your life forever! Everyone here is really sweet and can share a lot of info and is very supportive. They have all been where you are now and where you will be at while going through this whole process. Good luck I'm sure everything will be fine.

i know how you feel about been the fat girl of you circle of family and friends. i was the only fat one. and when you have a lil sister that looks like a super model it can beeee soo hard. so i fell you haha.
good luck with your reserch and your insurance and everything. don´t wait until surgery to make some healthy changes.

Congrats on making the decision to do something about it while you're young...there's so much more to enjoy at our age!!!
I had no problem with my approval, and my surgeon explained that making major life changes at a younger age is ideal for long term success!!!
Hope everything goes well...WLS is the most amazing choice I've ever made for myself and I would do it a thousand times again to feel this good!!
