PCOS and Weightloss
Ok so I've had PCOS ever since I hit puberty really, Now the symptoms are getting worse as i've gotten bigger :(
I've read all over websites about weightloss and the pcos symptoms going down but they really can't prove it yet.
They said it can help but really depends on the person.
I was wondering if anyone in here that is post-op and had PCOS has noticed the symptoms reducing?
Thanks,
Anna :)

Anna,
I had PCOS from the getgo as well, pretty much. I probably had somewhere around 10-15 periods ever before I had surgery.... so 10 years having usually only a period a year or so. When I started losing weight, I had one even before surgery, and so far I've had them like clockwork. I'm pretty sure it helps in a lot of cases, it's even a co-morbidity for a lot of insurance companies.
good luck
Ann

As someone told me lately, everyone deserves the chance to fly!
Hey girlie,
I also had/have PCOS. I'm not really sure anymore because I never had the cycst on my ovaries but I did have the hair loss, the random hair growth, the irregular periods (I would go months without one and then have one for 6 weeks straight). I took Metformin which was horrible. But 2 weeks before the surgery I was told to stop taking the meds and since the surgery I've had my period like clock work. Also I'm black and I was getting some dork spots on my body, those have begun to lighten up. Now the hair thing is another issue becauseI was so freaked out about losing hair from the surgery I bought these really expensive hair growth pills and have been taking them for almost a month. They work! but they work EVERYWHERE. So I have to shave my legs more often but the hair on my head is safe! I definitely noticed an improvement with my periods almost immediately though and I'm sure its because of my RNY. My doctor has warned me to be careful because you go from being infertile to super fertile pretty quickly.
