why does my back hurt when I eat too fast?

I noticed it happening to me every-so-often when I eat a bit too quickly and/or take too large of a bite.

Yesterday night I went to my favorite Thai restaurant (where I haven't been since before my surgery) and had chicken Pad Thai. It was delicious, but on like the 3rd bite I must have taken a piece of chicken AND a forkfull of noodles, and even though I chewed it thoroughly, it must have been too much (combined with eating too fast because it was so delicious & I wasn't paying attention)... and then my back started to hurt. It's a weird pain, sorta in between my shoulder blades around where my spine is.. and it hurt so much I had to go to the bathroom just to sit down, cough in peace (esp. in case I had to throw up, which hasn't happened yet) and wash my face.

It's a bit of a weird feeling and it's happened before... and I just want to know WHY. Or, rather, WHAT is going on in my body/new stomach that makes my back hurt this way... any ideas?

I'm not really sure why your back would hurt or if it's anything serious, but if it continues I would call your surgeon.   Before my gallbladder was removed it would hurt my back horribly when i would have an attack, so I guess it would be possible for too big of a bite to have the same affect.  I guess I don't know.

Good luck!

that`s because your colon hurts. its like a pain in one side of  the lower back i`m nut sure which one i thing the left one. i`m not very sure.  the colon is the begining of the intestine. I believe that it can be the air you swallow when you eat 2 fast. so eat slowly and try to enjoy your food.

no... it definitely can't be my colon. It's the supper back that hurts. Like, right under my neck, in between my shoulders and down to where my bra strap usually is..

The colon is the END of the intestines. Just FYI.

I realize this is 8 years old, but do you still get this?  I am almost 8 weeks post op and it happens to me.  I have a very hard time slowing down my eating.

Hope all is good.

i think its part of the oseophgus? the tube where your food goes down into the stomach is all interconnected and when you eat too much or too fast it gets stuck...ive had experience in that haha but im learning ot go slower :-D
