TWO WEEK FREAK PLUS FOUR DAYS
Hi guys-
sorry i've been a flake
its been a while...so i am sitting here freaking out alot...i mean alot. I really think I am going to die on March 20th. I told my husband I don't want to fight between now and then because i don't want to waste my last days with him.
seriously, this is bad....i need the surgery want the surgery but I keep thinking i am not going to wake up from the surgery.
My son has a field trip the day of the surgery and i thought to myself i won't be able to ask him how it went.
what are the new stats...also, any u of c people that can reassure me i'll be ok.

Hey,
Sorry that you are feeling this way. I did the same thing before my surgery. In my personal opinion, I think the pre-surgery time is harder if you have little ones. I kept thinking I was going to die and not get to see my son grow up and how selfish was I to leave a 2 year old without his mom. But, I look at it this way...now I know I get to see him grow up and him not having to lose me early because of an obesity related illness. Same for my husband.
I don't know if you are religious, but I did a lot of praying before my surgery and that helped me a lot. When I went to visit my psychologist before surgery he said it's best to just face your fears and deal with them as they come. He also said it would be more worrysome if you weren't scared at all...so it's perfectly normal. Once again, don't know if you are religious but I just pretty much gave all my fears to God and put everything in his hands.
Best of luck to you and I will pray for you to have a quick, sucessful surgery!

Hey girl~ You have very natural concerns, but rest assured, you are going to be in great hands with your surgeon and I just know that you are going to come out of that surgery with bells on! (I'm a very optimistic person, plus they have come so far over the years with the advances on Bariatric surgeries) I'll be thinking of you on your big day! My husband is about to leave for deployment so I know what you mean about not wanting to fight with them before something big happens, though. Just know, hon, I will be thinking of you... I am almost 5 years post op and I had the same fears as you, but I knew it had to be done or I'd die from my weight, eventually. I am here if you need anything~ *hugs*

Honestly, I would not go by overall stats, I would speak with your surgeon and ask what his stats are. My surgeon has been doing this for years and has done close to a thousand surgeries and has only lost 2 patients. These patients were also SUPER SUPER obese and had prior medical problems. It is not a happy subject, but it is reality and you need to ask.
I am sure that you will be fine!
Good luck!
