PreOps?
I'm Pre-Op!
I am self-pay so I am making sure all my pennies are in order :P. I am also still researching my surgery choice and surgeon and learning as much as possible.
I can not wait to get a surgery date!

You simply cannot be beaten if, at the end of the day, some tiny part of you can still whisper: "I will try again tomorrow"
Hi Brittnie B.! How exciting. I bet you are so stoked that you seriously have less than a month until your Surgery! Exciting Stuff. How long will you be on a liquid diet.
Hi oscuridad99! Self Pay oh my goodness that’s a lot of pennies to get in order (hehe). Do you have a Top 3 of places you want? How is your research going?

I am also pre-op. I'm just starting out in a bariatric program at a local hospital so I have quite a few things left to do. I've already been to the required information session and the first support group meeting. I'm meeting with the nurse/coordinator on Monday to get weighed in (officially). She'll tell me how much weight I have to lose before surgery. Then I have to go to a barrage of appointments. There's the psych eval, the nutritionist, 6-week behavior modification classes and I think I even will meet with a physical therapist. Once that has all been completed I'll actually meet with my surgeon and have all of the necessary pre-op testing done. And from then on it should be smooth sailing...I'll just have to submit it to the insurance company for approval and schedule a date. It seems like so much to do but I'm really looking forward to it. I'm glad it's not a simple process because I think the entire process will help me so much more in the long run.

Hello lovely pre-op ladies I found these protein drink recipes on another board posted by Cleopatra_Nik . I just tried the Mocha Protein Drink without the SF Chocolate Syrup and added a touch of splenda to it and it was delish. I thought I'd share these with you all.
I just buy Body Fortress protein powder from Wal-Mart and mix it with stuff. Here are my favorite recipes:
All use skim milk, 1 scoop of protein powder (whichever kind you like): Reese cup – milk, chocolate whey, 2 tbsp PB2 Chocolate monkey – milk, chocolate whey, 1 tbsp PB2, ¼ a banana, 1 tbsp SF chocolate syrup Mocha – milk, chocolate whey, ½ tbsp of decaf instant coffee, 1 tbsp SF chocolate syrup German chocolate cake – milk, chocolate whey, 1 tbsp SF toasted coconut syrup, 1 tbsp SF chocolate syrup Pina colada – milk, vanilla whey, 1 tbsp SF pineapple syrup, 1 tbsp SF coconut syrup Café au lait – milk, vanilla whey, ½ tbsp decaf instant coffee, 1 tbsp SF caramel syrup (or hazelnut works nicely too) Cinnabon – milk, vanilla whey, 1 tbsp SF English toffee syrup, 1 tsp dry SF cheesecake instant pudding mix, dash of cinnamon, dash of nutmeg Peanut brittle – milk, chocolate whey (just trust that this works, I know it sound weird), SF caramel syrup (or hazelnut which I am more partial to), 2 tbsp PB2 What is PB2…go here and find out…

I'm Pre-op, hoping for RNY in April. I have gotten my pysc eval on Monday, all i have left is bloodwork, Pulmonologist consult and my pre-op nutrition class. Then all my info will be sent into insurance and I hope all will be approved! Good luck to you! I can't wait to get on the loosers bench with everyone else! Request me as a friend if you would like!
Hi Holly, What insurance do you have? You sound so upbeat about all the “hoops" you have to go through! I know I am really impatient about the whole 6 months but I know I have things (appointments) to get done during that time so it should be a great learning experience overall; thank goodness since this is forever! Lol Good luck on your weigh in by the way! Maybe we can keep this thread going so that way we know where us preops are at. Lol
Hi AirForceWifey, Love your little Signature quote. That works for me. Lucky Duck your so close to your Surgery. What were some of things you had to go through to get there? Are you Insurance or Personal Pay?
OoO hOlliM those recipes look scrumptious and eatable!

I have Federal Blue Cross Blue Shield (basic). I've already called them (and so has the insurance coordinator at the hospital) and I am eligible and they should cover the surgery. I've heard that they are usually pretty good, and fast, when it comes to approving the procedure. That doesn't mean that I won't be freaking out while I wait to hear from them!
