1 month to tone up - turbo jam or tae bo?
So it's been a little over a month since my gastric bypass and I've lost about 27lbs (YAY!). I'm very excited but definitely noticed that since I'm a lightweight, my loss has been averaging about 2-3lbs a week altely. Which is great, of course, except that I'm going on a cruise with my family and boyfriend in the beginning of April. I realize that it'll take me about a year or so to lose the 100lbs I need to lose to reach goal (well, 73lbs now!) and I'm working on really dedicating myself to an exercise program I can keep up with for the rest of my life..
But, honestly, because of the upcoming cruise, I'm wondering what I can be doing right now to maximize my results in terms of weight loss & toning up. I know I can't expect miracles, but I want to KNOW that I did everything I could to be in as best shape as I can be. Any ideas? suggestions? I have many various exercise videos from my pre-surgery life, including the Turbo Jam maximum results series and Tae Bo cardio/flex. I've not done either of these in well over a year, but I've always heard that they're really good workouts with great results. I also have a recumbent bike that I've been cycling on for about 30mins 3-4x a week since my surgery. So, my question is.. what's the best wayto up my cardio/toning (with what I have or can access easily- no gym!) and get the best results possible in a little over a month?

Either one of those workouts would be fine. The goal is to get your heart rate up and keep it there for a good 45 minutes to an hour at a time for probably at least 5 days a week. I'm not sure how the weather is where you are but getting outside for a fast pace walk/jog is a good work out too.
I would also suggest doing some conditioning exercises ie, squats, lunges, crunches, etc. This will improve muscle tone. You can get some good ideas if you pick up a copy of like Women's Health, Shape or Fitness magazines. You can do these routines on the days that you are not doing cardio.
My exercise ball in invaluble to me, so if you don't have one I would highly recommend it plus a light set of hand weights.
Happy sweating!

I have been involved in a fitness program called Crossfit for while now. Here is a link to some of the "no-gym" workouts also known as "travel" workouts that you can do anywhere. Most just involve body weight. Don't worry if you can't do some of the excercises, or the number required, just scale it down until you can! It's great fun and it short but super intense! The workouts are constantly varied so your body never knows what you are going to throw at it any given day!
The program has made me SUPER strong, and I cant wait till after I have my surgery so I can become a fire breather! I know some of these workouts might look extremely daunting and hard to do, but they are great! The best part is you don't even need a DVD player to watch the video! Let me know if you have questions!
