Excess Skin
To a certain extent. It also depends on how much weight you have to lose, meaning the heavier you are the more the skin is likely to be stretched and won't be perfect looking after weight loss....but I highly doubt anyone who's had WLS is ready for the SI swimsuit issue. But yes, the younger you are the more elastin your skin still has. I wouldn't worry about it until you are near your goal weight.

I use a cocoa/shea butter lotion on my skin every time I shower just to keep things soft. I think if you are destine to have stretch marks, you will get them regardless but if the skin is well hydrated then it can't hurt I suppose. Once again, I think stretch marks tend to lean on the hereditary side of things. Drinking water too will help your skins appearance.

Mariana is right. We all will have some loose skin. The younger the better but it does have a lot to do with your size before the surgery, how long you were that size, genetics, etc But I'm telling I look at my loose skin and I love it. I'm healthier! 70lbs healthier in 4 months! You cant beat that with a stick lol. Good luck to you!

My surgeon is very optomistic about the excess skin issue. The younger skin helps, and things are "sucking in" a lot better than I thought they would.
I probably won't have an extreme amount comparatively. However, my nipples and my knees are slowly starting to meet. It's driving me crazy already. Poor saggy boobs.
However, I feel that getting to goal and getting healthy is the first step. I'll worry about the skin and boobs later. And it's a personal choice. If it doesnt' bug you, then why bother?

yea, I think it just really depends on your genetics, how much you have to lose, how long you've been overweight/etc...
I've lost 27lbs so far and I've noticed a bit of excess skin on my inner thighs.. also, when I had lost 90lbs in 2yrs during college, I had excess skin on the stomach.. it wasn't terrible or anything but if I was, lets say, in the "doggy style" position during sex, it flopped down a bit and I didn't like it. But I never really had any complaints from anyone else!
I think for the most part excess skin is one of those things that really bothers YOU but nobody else.. I mean, if it's really bad and you're in a bikini, I'm sure that won't feel great. but when you're out and about and fully clothed, no one's the wiser!
plus you can always explore plastics later on if you need to.. I think the most common is for stomach skin or thigh skin, as well as upper arm (triceps) and I've heard a LOT of people have to have a boob lift. nothing to look forward to if it's something you have to do (whether for health or vanity reasons, both are valid in my book), but at least you'll be at your healthiest!
