Hey guys/gals just wanted to check in with everyone here on OH. It has been one week since i had surgery and im currently down 20lbs from day of surgery. The numbers are great and i never imagined the weight would come off so fast. BUT not everything is great, i have had a lot of pain since coming home and i have been struggling very much so with getting my fluids in (im only getting about half in) and im paying dearly! im constipated and bloated as a result and needless to say VERY uncomfortable!!! I also have this damn drain in me which is sore ALL OF THE TIME and it gets in the way of everything, hoping that it will be removed at my follow up appt next tuesday!
I called my docs office yesterday about the water and told them the main reason i was struggling to get it all in because immediately after taking the smallest sip possible i had horrible pain just above my belly button and it just made it difficult to drink more knowing how much it would hurt. So the nurse told me she felt i was taking in too much air when sipping and cleared me for use of a straw to help with that and it seems to be working so far.
Just hoping everything will get easier from here on out.

anyway..hope everyone else is well!! take care.

Wow 20 lbs in a week. Congrats! I hope everything gets better. I'm sure it will. My mom had a lot of trouble getting all the liquids she needed too. Hang in there!

getting in your liquids will get easier as time passes.  just try to do all your surgeon says and you'll be good to go.  glad youre home and making it.  things will get better!

Hey girl... whoot whoot!  20lbs... that just amazes me thats even possiable.  Damn - I swear time is flying by.  Seems like yesterday - you were griping about having your  WLS date pushed out.  Sooo sorry to hear about your issues though.  As much as this isn't going to be helpful (espeically coming from someone in pre-op phase) try to remember... and this too shall pass!  You can remind me I said this to you when you see my post op "woes" in a few weeks!!    LOL.

I hope all gets better soon for you!!

All the best in your WLS adventure...

OMG, THATS GREAT!!  i was down 20 too at that point, and getting fluids seemed impossible.  i had the same problems with the burning feeling....(never was told to use a straw im gonna check on that for myself!

as for fluids....it gets easier...i am a around 3 weeks now, and i keep a food journal, i have been getting right at 70 ozs of fluid every day!  so it will happen.

now my problem is dumping....i dump on protein shakes!!! go figure!!

congrats, and best of luck!!
